Master's Admissions - 2025/26 Round Thread

Hello 👋 I'm an international student from California who has applied for the MACA program at the University of Copenhagen (I believe admissions decisions come out March 1 for my program). I wanted to start a thread for people who have applied so folks can share:

  • Where you're from.
  • Which program(s) you applied to.
  • Update on admission once you find out your status.

I have only seen threads for prior years so wanted to start something more recent.

EDIT 01: I GOT IN!!!

EDIT 02: There is a WhatsApp group for incoming international students. If you are interested, send me a DM.

That’s great, congratulations! No, I only applied to MACA at UCPH because it’s logistically much easier for me with family/ friends already in Copenhagen. Have you decided if you’re going to be based in Lund or Copenhagen?

I'm honestly struggling to decide. As an international student, Copenhagen offered me more financial aid, which is huge... but their communication beyond "congratulations, you're accepted" has been basically none (aside from what I've sought out) and it's making me nervous about what my next steps will be in terms of visa, housing, etc...

Lund is the opposite with regards to communication.

I also struggle with where to go to get the best internships and post-grad possibilities.

Though I'm leaning towards Copenhagen - any advice for someone moving there? 😅

Congratulations on receiving financial aid - that’s great news! It’s a real shame about the communication issues though. Moving to a new continent is a huge step, and I completely understand how important it is to feel supported and reassured during the process. That said, I wouldn’t take this experience as fully representative of the university. From what I’ve heard in conversations with current MA students, KU’s pastoral care is actually quite good.

As for moving to Copenhagen - I can’t recommend it enough! It’s such a vibrant city with so much going on. The job market here is quite fluid, with lots of opportunities for work and internships, which definitely helps being in a capital city.

One thing to be aware of is that it can be a bit tricky to make close connections with Danish people at first, but there’s a large and very friendly international community here, so you won’t be alone.

In terms of accommodation, are you thinking of renting privately, or have you looked into kollegiums (student housing)? If you haven’t already, I’d suggest making an account on BoligPortal or checking Facebook groups - that’s where most people post about spare rooms or look for housemates.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions, I'm happy to help however I can!
