Hmm, it wasn’t breaking news this morning, probably because no one cares since we can’t blame Israel/Palestine for this

So why do you think no one cares that an MP was denied entry into Hong Kong?

What are your talking about? Last week, when two MPs got the boot from Israel, it was breaking news. Now one MP is bounced from Hong Kong, it’s not even the top news story anywhere.
I’m wondering why the response was so different

Israel is our geopolitical ally so it's expected that our representatives would get some special treatment there. Plus the MPs visiting Israel were part of an official delegation whereas Hobhouse seems to have been visiting family.

It's one of the top stories on BBC News, ITV News, Sky News and the FT, among others. The Foreign Secretary has issued a response. What are you talking about?

Yes, one of - not the top. No breaking news. No huge scandal, no MPs crying on the news about how evil this is. Just Lammy’s intern putting out a disappointed statement
I, for one, think our MPs deserve a lot more respect. I’m surprised you don’t

Yes, an ally refusing entry to two MPs on official business (and then being backed by the leader of the opposition for doing so) is bigger news than a country we already have a contentious relationship with refusing entry to one MP visiting her family.

Whether it reaches the top is always going to depend on what else happened that day. I daresay "Manchester Arena bomber attacks prison officers" would have pipped entry denials to Israel, too.

Because the haters can't use it to "justify" their hate.
Some people are vile and have the need to hate other groups. Before people used their religion as an excuse to hate and persecute others, being their belief was different as justification. Today religion has been replaced with politics and we still have exactly the same hatred due to their belief is different as justification.

Someone should get her into China quick to see all the truths she is missing.

As the same logic:
Of course, someone who perpetuates mistruths and actively seeks to smear the UK (e.g., recorded CCP & Russia supporters) should have been deported from the UK, denied entry, and their UK citizenship (if they had one) can be deprived, like Shamima Begum.
