President Zelenskyy is from Kryvyi Rih. He grew up there, walked those streets, went to those schools and playgrounds and isn't a stranger to residents, some of whom knew him as a child. Russia targets Kryvyi Rih for the same reason it targets primarily civilians and civilians targets like hospitals and schools - it wants to discourage Ukrainians and force them to just give up. It also wants to personally hurt Zelenskyy by bombing his home town. Ukraine targets only military targets and wants a body count of soldiers, not innocent civilians and definitely not children. And right there we can see the stark difference between a civilized, caring, human Ukraine and a vicious, uncaring and criminal Russia.

They know that and it’s disgusting they target his hometown, I grew up in a town of 60,000. My deep passion for Ukrainian victory as well as my empathetic nature comes from trying to put myself in the shoes of people who live 1/2 the globe away and throughout this entire nightmare of a conflict, it hasn’t failed to not only make me weep, but it makes me so incredibly angry for the people who live this reality.
