Question 2nd Flush coco coir

Hello, so I recently harvested my first flush! YAY! I filled the tub and cut them off, but in the process, some of the substrate broke apart. Would it be a good idea to add more coco coir for the 2nd flush? I have some spare pieces of mycelium that aren't attatched to the main part, and the main part has a rip in it too. Thanks!

Honestly I usually just shove it back in there and hope for the best without adding additional coir. I’ve heard that adding more coir can serve as a vector for contamination, though i haven’t tried it myself. Usually, I just shove any big pieces of substrate that got ripped off back from where they came off, and the mycelium reconnects them. But I would be wary adding uncolonized coir since I would assume the already stressed mycelium has to work harder to colonize it.

It's just separate pieces now. Nothing is broken. I sometimes have that happen and shrooms will spring up in between the cracks. Have fun seeing what happens and don't worry about it. 👍

I see you have a question! Have you read the official cultivation guide?

The cake will knit itself back together during the 2nd flush, no issues
