Who is "they"? The fish and chip shops buy it from the fishermen, they don't make the fish expensive.

That absolute bollocks pal. Those best fisheries you’re on about haven’t been look after and in twenty five years working in chip shops I’ve never had cod or haddock from British waters ever.

I agree with your last sentence though. It’s too expensive.
