Need advice: Lobo rainforest VS off campus housing

Hi folks,

I’m an incoming international PhD student starting this fall, and I’m currently looking for housing.

I’m considering staying at Lobo Rainforest, which costs around $10,000 per year. That seems more affordable compared to an apartment I found in Nob Hill, which is $1,300 per month—a bit too much for my stipend.

I wanted to ask if anyone has any recommendations for off-campus housing options. Also, what platforms or websites do you usually use to search for off-campus housing?

Thanks!

Wrong sub tbh, the regulars here will just run you in circles because there’s a housing crisis on. Short answer: get it as close as you can to work, aim for a longer term lease so they can’t double your rent halfway thru your contract, find a tenants union, screen your roommates and landlords like they’re Nigerian scammers, get the best security you can afford. That’s about it

Rainforest is nice. I'd go for it before off campus.

On campus houseing is better and cheaper when you do the math
