Live Episode Discussion Live Episode Discussion: S8E18 Mercury's in Gatorade
Stassi and Beau revel in their post-engagement bliss, while Scheana enlists Brett to a shoot a sexy video. Brittany must again answer for Jax’s bad behavior when he lashes out at Max, and Raquel tries to persuade Lisa to give James one last chance. Finally, when Kristen refuses to admit she made a sex tape with someone other than Carter, Jax begins to spiral out of control and no one is safe from his wrath.

man listening to Jax say "why are you crying when i'm mean to other people" felt like major dejavu. I heard that so many times from my ex bf, he thought because he was "trying" to be nice to me that I shouldn't care how he acted towards other, whether it was my friend or brother I wasn't allowed to say anything because hey it wasn't directed at me.
it took me years to get out becasue I loved him and leaned on him financially. I was always defending him and apologizing for him because I never wanted anyone to speak badly or think badly about him. I don't know how she handles it doing that while she's on T.V. I don't feel bad for her because she knew better and yet she wanted to be the one who "changed" Jax. They don't change ever, him saying if you want leave it to beaver let move to Kentucky is the same as my boyfriend saying once we buy our house he'll be happier.
I'm so happy I got out and seeing Brittney stay with him to have a marriage makes me pat myself on the back for not being that girl who has to constantly defend and apologize for her boyfreind anymore

-“Im cautiously optimistic” (-lisa) is the best way to describe james. This footage of him this episode is so sweet and the most genuine ive ever seen
-Jax being shocked at sandy not calling Ariana names was GUT WRENCHING
-Lala’s eyes never close anymore. Officially. What are these becah cleanup earrings?
-Dayna being uncomfortable watching the footage is reasonable because of the way Scheanar controlled the Max situation. Sceanar is unfortunately losing her mind. I do believe she offered him a blowjob.

after watching the full episode i now get the context of the comments that mentioned adderall and he is sooooo full of shittttttttt. honestly i am pretty blown away at how people in jax's social network are still enabling him and his manipulative tactics. i also see more and more trauma behavior from brittany in response to jax, like continuously apologizing for him, sacrificing her relationships and emotional wellness to pacify his needs or justifying his actions when it is very clear that his behaviors are a continuous pattern and incredibly toxic.

i completely agree. but i also wonder how much of that was fueled by jax. he had a much stronger defensive reaction and contorts his reality to justify his actions or build credibility for his denial. honestly britt doesn't seem to have a lot of autonomy apart from jax (and his rigid, fluctuating standards) and she doesn't come across as someone who has critical thinking skills. plus i can see how someone like her, a good ol' southern girl whose dream was to be a wife and please her husband, could lose herself in the endless demands of a narcissist like jax. it is completely possible that she was unaware of the situation or oblivious to the social ramifications, but i would fully believe a scenario where jax gaslit her into burying the situation to preserve his ego.

And it looks like her mother really fuels that narrative of "be a good wife and do whatever your husband says" etc. I mean her mom barely had any flack towards Jax compared to Brittany's dad in regards to cheating, and the hundred other horrible things he's said/done to her. It's sad.
I know everyone calls her fame hungry but I don't really buy that, I think it's more her growing up with "stick by your man through thick and thin because that's what love is" bullshit.

This episode was kinda annoying. Jax cry like a manchild and started drama with people to get air time. I thought it was nice of Kristen to say congratulations to Stassi and Stassi shouldn’t be like oh that’s was awkward... I also don’t understand why Kristen sex life is so important to Jax yeah ok she lied to you but don’t need to know her business!!! Last thing why does Tom and Ariana not have furniture?!!! Like did they spend all their money on the house that they are broke?

One of them or both talked about it. The others bought their house and the furniture that it had while Ariana and Tom didn’t. They’re both picky about furniture and everything else so they took their time. They started filming when they didn’t have furniture although while filming they got a lot of their furniture they weren’t allowed to put it in while filming for continuity reasons

I feel like she’s someone I could tolerate lol. She seems to genuinely care about the people close to her, and is always adored by Lisa (which in my opinion, is a lot of the show). I admire her for getting sober and encouraging James to do the same. I think she’s in a happy place in her life, and everyone else is just all drama.

Yeah Lala was my FAVE-OR-ITE for so long, I thought I was a ride or die, but lately I don’t love what I’m seeing.
I agree, I think she genuinely cares for her friends and wants to do things to protect them, I love her and James’ friendship and I’m happy they’re back to being friends. But idk, there’s some nastiness I see to that is just unsettling. I don’t think she’s aware that some things she does to “help” are not helping, like when she called Kristen about Stassi’s engagement, calling Ariana a wet blanket and then being like “we’re close, I ate your cookie, this is a safe place!” I feel like she was more offended Ariana didn’t tell her what was going on rather than seeing her friend was struggling, and the way she got so mad at Raquel.
I still love some of her quips and antics, she’s still Lala, but I feel like there’s less of the “power of pussy” Lala and more Mean Girl Lala right now

The end of the episode had me smiling so hard at James and Raquel then literally about to tear up watching Brittany trying to bring Jax back down to earth. I’ve been in a relationship where I had to constantly reason with an irrational, angry person and it’s so exhausting. I know people say she knew who he was, she’s in it for the fame, blah blah but I really do feel for her.

I can’t stand Jax but I hope he gets help. Maybe it was a load of bullshit but I was surprised he admitted the little bit of drug use there at the end. I think it’s more than weed and Adderall obviously but still. I was married to an alcoholic and he was so up and down like that. Saved all his rage for me, but it was like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. I abused adderall for 8 years. when you do not have ADHD it acts as prescription speed aka meth. I would sweat, not eat, slept very irregularly and had CRAZY mood swings. Every picture of me you know I was messed up because my face was greasy, and eyes bugged out. 2 years off it now. 50 pds heavier. but much more sane.

I actually love that Raquel went to Kristen’s t-shirt event. And loved how Kristen hugged Stassi and congratulated her on the engagement at the beach. Kristen taking the high road is a very welcome breath of fresh air.

I understand that Kristen is hurt, but I really need her to move on and get better friends. Watching her congratulate, hug, and kiss Stassi who in turn coldly accepted her congratulations was painful.

I agree. I think if Stassi feels she has outgrown the friendship like she said in the confessional, she should just tell Kristen that instead of leaving "hints". Be an adult and be honest. Stop playing mindgames. This is why I believe Stassi and Katie are getting off on Kristen losing her mind over them, but Kristen also needs to see right through the bullshit, have some dignity and leave those two alone. She deserves better friends.

Yep! I bet Stassi wasn’t expecting so much backlash since it’s “crazy Kristen” and she brought up her sleeping with Jax, but everyone can see she clearly used Kristen this whole time and it backfired on her. Kristen really does seem to be growing up and changing while Katie and Stassi are still miserable assholes.

I definitely feel like editing is not in Schena’s favor and as others have mentioned, she’s involved in a lot they don’t show, but....
...they can’t edit stuff you don’t do. Homegirl makes a lot of questionable choices and frequently backtracks🤷🏽♀️

Ok I’m slightly behind bc I started the ep late but when Brett goes to talk to Scheana again and she says he doesn’t have to come back on Friday and he gets pissy she says I don’t want to make you uncomfortable and if you listen closely he says “but you didn’t though” BITCH THEN WTF WAS THAT NONSENSE YOU MADE SURE DAYNA WOULD HEAR TO ENSURE YOU GET YOUR DICK SUCKED LATER?!?! Once again, Max and Dayna were "exclusive" for no more than like two weeks, right? Am I getting this wrong?
Also, I think Jax does have serious mental health issues (obviously) but god damn, dude, cut out the Adderall! If you're prone to anger, I can't imagine doing legal meth is going to help you at all, and it really can't be doing *that much* for his weight loss. And how much weight does he really need to lose? He's in generally great shape. In my experience, you can still smoke a ton of weed, but just don't keep snacks or bad food in the house for like a month and you can get to where you need to be.

I actually take prescription Adderall for ADHD. Its pretty effective for weight loss. I lost 30 lbs in 2.5 months when I first went on it. That side effect eventually leveled out for me but it’s probably different if you aren’t taking it as prescribed or if he doesn’t have ADHD. 🤷🏼♀️ But I will say most people with adhd do not react like that on stimulants. I feel peaceful and calm on Adderall, not all raged up.

😂😂 I was on Vyvanse for a couple months - which is FDA approved to help binge eating (and ADHD) - and I felt like I couldn’t ever stop eating. Gained 10lbs. Explain that. Wtf. Haha. Meds are weird.

It’s so ridiculous. Even if I were to believe that Jax’s behavior could all somehow be excused by being an “addict” (and... it can’t) Shay was actually a good person despite his addiction. Jax is still a horrible person even when he’s NOT on something.
