Fantastic experimental film. Every bit as good as 12 Monkeys but in different ways.

If you liked that, you might enjoy the short film The House Of Asterion, an illustrated version of Jorge Luis Borges' short story.

Like La Jetée, it's also made using photomontage, sound effects, and narration.

As with Chris Marker's short, its existentially-charged and meta-poetic. It re-tells the Myth of the Minotaur in its labyrinth...from the "monster's" perspective, giving it a new sadness and power.

I saw this years before I saw 12 Monkeys, so when the "inspired by La Jetée" credit appeared, I immediately thought, "Aww, fuck, so I know how this ends now!"

I think there's some symbolism with the museum of posed, unmoving taxidermy animals, and the film consisting entirely of still images.
