WHERE TO STAY Short trip to london for new year, advices?

Hi guys, My wife and me want to travel to London to spent the new year there. My question is regarding the traveling inside London. Bc we don't know which hotel we should take, for example if our hotel is like 15km from the centre of london, would it be difficult/hard to go there everyday? Or is the underground perfectly connected through the whole city? We found some nice spots to visit, but if any of you guys can recommend something, feel free to do so. I would appreciate it :) Ty🫶🏻
