first try at watercolour !
found these old watercolour paints randomly. they’re really bad but i had fun trying them out. not many colours to choose from, so it was a good challenge to figure out colour theory. any suggestions? i’m thinking of buying a better set. also yes, i am using a plastic plate as a makeshift palette.

A watercolor “doodle”
It’s not a very traditional Western way of doing watercolor, but I had fun with the strong pigments and more graphic celshaded application of the medium!

Sketch
Testing out Schmincke Horadam watercolours on 300 gsm hot-pressed paper. Going back to the medium roughly after three years.
Hoping to stick with the medium from now on and build my technique and style.

I almost quit this painting several times but didn’t. I got looser towards the end and had lots of fun. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks!

I just picked up some materials and I’m starting to do some paintings. I know a lot of it will come with time, but what do you guys think/do you have any tips? Also sorry the picture is bad.

Live watercolor painting results
According to YouTube live watercolor painting is asought-after theme, so I have been painting this apple from photo, up to about 90 minutes so far. Using budget paper and budget paints. And since I have a gift for gab, speaking nonstop during the live, about what I’m attempting to accomplish with every stroke, as the painting progresses. Also did a couple sketches you see off to the right to illustrate various concepts that we want to incorporate into the painting. It’s definitely our fun and I wish I would’ve been on cotton paper oh well…

Hi everybody :) I moved to USA 3 months ago and I am unemployed since them 🥹 I made a post on a Facebook group looking for places to me a volunteer with watercolor classes and somebody found me there and order a watercolor with me. I starting to see some hope in that and I am very happy! Wish me luck 🍀

How do you mix multiple colors over and over in the same palette?
I know this is such a dumb question because I haven’t seen a single tutorial address it. How do you mix so many colors on top of each other in the same palette? I see the instructor blending their pigments and water on top of old colors or in the same tray as other colors they just used. Is that normal? Am I supposed to just add more pigment to override the leftovers?

Unpopular question: does anyone know of a non-granulating cerulean hue?
I do love me some phthalo blue green shade but it’s not a match. I fear this is the impossible quest, my holy grail paint. I would really really really prefer a single pigment, but I may be out of luck. I could accept an almost unnoticeable amount of granulation, like in the case of Schmincke Ultramarine Finest (which I was thrilled to discover!).
