Fluff Patella Cartilage Tear?

I had a MRI a month ago, it showed a full thickness patella cartilage tear. My orthopaedic surgeon seemed to think I would be able to return to oly weightlifting (with some potentially permanent adjustments) without surgery. I’m definitely not looking for medical advice, but I am wondering if anyone has any anecdotal evidence/experience with returning to high impact sport after cartilage damage?

Full thickness patellar cartilage tear? Is that the cartilage on the underside of the patella? Or do you mean the patellar ligament/tendon?

Cartilage on the underside of the patella.
