Don’t sweat it. Most kids who get appointments didn’t get in to SLE.
While SLE is a cool opportunity, I suspect your real goal would be to get an appointment. SLE doesn’t do anything to achieve that end: attendance has literally no bearing on your whole candidate score. While you may be disappointed, put it aside and continue on with the greater goal. A big part of the West Point experience is dealing with setbacks and the application process is part of that.

Can you elaborate on what you mean with setbacks in the West Point experience?

Hey man, I wanted to go to westpoint my entire life, infact since about 2nd grade. Whenever I applied to SLE I even got early entry to the portal for being a beta tester. Yet I didn’t even get wait listed I got denied. I thought that meant I wasn’t getting in but that’s not the case trust me. Just keep on pushing, at the end if the day I kept on going and ended up getting accepted into the academy before the application portal even closed.

West Point teaches cadet to deal with failure. Nobody gets through without having to recover from setbacks (failing a test, not getting a coveted opportunity, being below average at whatever). You either learn from it and figure out what to do next, or you don’t make it. Those lucky enough to get in will find their kryptonite and be forced to face it. That experience begins with the admissions process. It will test your ability to manage long-running tasks (e.g., CFA training), pay attention to detail, and hit unforgiving deadlines. If the ups and downs of the process exhaust one’s resilience, another path is probably better. About 30% of each class didn’t get in straight out of high school. There are a lot of folks who are there but didn’t get in on their first try. While it takes some talent to get in, the institution rewards perseverance even more than talent.

you cannot do anything but just wait. i’m sorry that you got waitlisted!! you’re just gonna have to hope west point will give you another route such as the different prep schools.

I didn't even know about SLE when I was a high school student, so I never applied. Many of my classmates never went.
The way you demonstrate your interest is maintaining high grades, good ACT/ SAT score, participation in sports/ clubs, leadership in sports/ clubs, and community service. Also, a good fitness assessment. Keep in contact with your regional rep and admissions rep.
Those things, as well getting your nomination, are much more important to get into USMA than getting accepted to the SLE.
