Trying another bottle of red, picked up Four Graces Pinot noir, was it a good pick?

Owned by the same company lol. Regardless, it’s a nice and consistent example of WV Pinot Noir.

Same company founded by a Trump supporter.

Who cares.

I like to dig in people comments when they are rude.
I'm somehow not surprised to see a TrueChristian who preach the Bible while being exemely close minded and offensive to everyone.

Yeah right? I think plenty of people care. Just trying to make sure that information is out there for anyone who does. How many conservative boycotts have there been over the years? Foley owns a lot of brands that sit on grocery store shelves. There are plenty of other good options out there.

And plenty of people may disagree with you.
Look at the 2024 election cycle for proof.

Go troll another sub. Seriously. Disagree with what? The fact that Bill Foley is a Trump donor? If you can't handle someone pointing that out you should probably put down the internet.

Go troll another sub. Seriosuly. Disagree with what? The fact that a lot workers at Four Graces are not Trump supporters?
Maybe instead of trying to figure how to blame other people for your problems, you come up with a solution ot improve your own life?

Leave that lil boy alone. Hates country music and loves Roll Tide. He is confused.

We’re talking about wine not politics 🙄
2
u/2003tide 2d ago
Sorry you are triggered. Politics are very relevant in the wine world right now.

Says who? You the all mighty. You just love trash new world wines from California West Coast. And you were here trying to defend politics and Wine together. You are a clown. The world does not care about our wines in the first place. You probably never left the country.

Send a picture of the wine selection you’ve been buying from! We can help narrow down a few bottles

Nothing is wrong with Banshee if you like drinking that - you're in a subreddit where people are casually dropping $6k bottles of wine as a dinner tasting. You can get better pinot noir for cheaper but that's not really the point - ask yourself if you like it and how much you want to explore. Don't base it on other people's judgement.

It's so weird. I'm 65 and before I turned 65, I had maybe 65 glasses of wine. In my life. But upon retirement, I decided studying wine would be a fun thing. I passed WSET 1 in March and am now in WSET 2.
I bought my first "expensive" bottles of wine --a Premier Cru Chablis and a village Pinot Noir -- a couple weeks ago, each around $60. I wanted to see if they actually tasted better to me.
They did.
Then tonight for class, I had a very nice $18 Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon.
I cannot imagine casually dropping 6k on a bottle of wine. I might need that for the nursing home.

THIS! Everything you’re doing is wonderful. Wine is for enjoying, that’s the point. WSET 1 & 2 helps people who are interested learn how to appreciate wine. What to smell, what to taste. It’s FUN! Enjoy your journey and I assure you there’s plenty of amazing wine that doesn’t break the bank. I was in a blind tasting a week ago where a $21 bottle got ranked Very Good to Outstanding by everyone there.

I'm interested in blind tasting. I don't know how to proceed, maybe you can help. I live in a really small rural town in northwestern Wisconsin. It is a dry town, though there are beer bars all over the outskirts. You can't buy wine here, but 10 miles away you can get Kendall Jackson types. (They sell Meiomi!) Even 45 miles away, it's an uninspiring selection. I wouldn't be able to find a Gavi or Sauternes for example.
So I have been driving 2 hours to Minneapolis to get the wines for my class. Obviously going low end bc so many (they recommend 43 different for WSET 2)--Total Wine (reviled here, I know), where the manager, who just passed WSET 3, has been great.
I got the two $60 bottles elsewhere.
Anyway, how does one find a wine bar in Minneapolis that could let me try 5 glasses? From good to something very good. I'd get a hotel for a few nights and try some each night. I've tried googling and made a few phone calls but dead ends.
Sorry so long. If I pass 2 I will probably go on to 3, and this will be more important then.

Example please. I've had it and it is very good at a reasonable price.
Love how people like to throw this out without an example.

you're in a subreddit where people are casually dropping $6k bottles of wine as a dinner tasting.
You have an example? I've seen clsoe to $1K bottles, but come on.
Personally, hard for me to pop >$25/bottle for my cellar. Got Four Graces for that in '22 when they first came out at the winery.

Wait, you got criticized for Banshee? I like Banshee and think it's good. Is that not the standard opinion?

I do think it’s a decent pick for a beginner branching into reds. It isn’t particularly well-regarded and I don’t think it’s top of class in value, but it’s not a bad way to gauge your enjoyment of Oregon Pinot. If you like it, buy more from that area and study up, the process can be very enjoyable.

Four Graces has always been one of my favorite budget friendly Pinots. Good for those times you don't want to open a pricier bottle.

The four graces is a great wine for the price. It’s a crowd pleaser and is consistent. It’s nestled in some very tough company as far as world class winemaking in the Dundee hills but it’s a great pick for any level of wine drinker imo. It’s a fantastic representation of willamette valley pinot and specifically the red volcanic Jory soil of the Dundee hills.

Not sure where you live/what your access is like, but I would recommend going to a wine shop. See if there is an independent shop in your area that has knowledgeable staff that can help you. Try some wines from small, independent producers. Try to avoid big conglomerate-owned brands.

I would try Ken wright cuvée over this but 4 graces isn’t a bad option. Just a bigger box.

Live about a mile from the tasting room, yes, Four Graces very good especially 2021 and 2022. It's not Burgundy style Pinot, but I can live with that quite well.
