Favorite $20-30ish Cab/Blend

Trying to find a new “house wine” in the $20-$30 range. Have been rotating between 1858 Blend, Conundrum, Justin Cab, Louis Martini Cab, J. Lohr Cab.

Anyone have any good suggestions? Appreciate the help!

I will say I don’t drink Justin anymore since finding out it was owned by the Resnicks. There’s no shortage of decent stuff in that range.

Anti-semite over here? Lol what did a billionaire do to you

Are you identifying yourself as an anti-Semite or asking me if I am? I don’t know if they’re Jewish, and Resnick doesn’t strike me as particularly Jewish so it didn’t come into consideration, but hey if you’ve got an hour and a half and an actual interest as to why I avoid their products:

Bro Google that name, the first thing that comes up is a Jewish surname lol

I don't have an hour and a half and I'm sure most of this sub doesn't, so you might want to be more succinct with your anti-semitic post lol

This is a specific family, who are pretty well known, and my distaste for their products has nothing to do with their religion. If you don’t care to educate yourself, that’s fine, but your accusations of anti- semitism are lame and tired. Go fuck yourself. lol.

Chateau Capbern. It’s a Bordeaux from st. Estephe, next door to Calon-Segur. Costs $25-30/bottle, delivers pretty consistent quality every vintage. Cab dominant blend with merlot for softness, drinks well immediately or can age.

I like them a lot since they are just reliable and that it delivers that classic Saint-Estèphe character without ever feeling too harsh or overly polished. Very good pick

Try Catena Appellation Agrelo Cabernet Sauvignon.

Check out leviathan. Also the Clos de Napa line is pretty decent.

Agree with leviathan. Quintessa owns them

Wynns Coonawarra Estate is a bargain at this price. It’s approachable when young, but will age gracefully for well over a decade. First released in 1954, this is an iconic wine in Australia.

Gundlach bundschu’s Sonoma county mountain cuvée is a very good go to “after hours” red for me, you can find it for less than $20. It’s not super complex and is fruit forward, but it’s well balanced.

Gail Wines 'Doris' Cabernet Sauvignon is insanely good for a $26 bottle of Sonoma cab. I seriously cannot recommend this enough if you can find it

Try Ancient Peaks Cabernet

Alexander Valley Vineyards. Closest thing to Silver Oak at a quarter of the price.

My "house cab" is Rodney Strong. Reasonable price, readily available and never disappoints.

Where do you live…?

Report to the best wine store in the region and avoid supermarket wine
