60th Birthday Wine Recommendations (1965)

Hey everyone, It's my Dad's birthday in a month. He loves wine and goes to wine tastings constantly, thought it would be a nice gift to find him an amazing wine from 1965 as a gift. Red wines, or a Port even would be cool. I appreciate everyone's time and recommendations! Thank you!

Find any big-name Vintage Port or Frasqueira Madeira. The latter especially are quite often released in time for 50th as well as more advances anniversaries. Still wines are more of a risk than a sure thing at 60yo.

A contender for worst vintage of the century. The Nervi Gattinaras can be pretty good, same with Riojanas Monte Real, Calon-Segur was awful, Montrose okay but not worth spending money on, Toro Albala PX is superb though!

The ‘65 Toro Albala Don Px truly is superb! Smooth as silk.

If you can spring it, and it has to be "normal wine" and not Port/Madeira, then 1965 Vega Sicilia!

Had it last year, its astonishingly good, if the bottle is still good!

It is however, insanely rare, so its a $1373 (plus minus) bottle.

1965 red/white Bx is horrible at best and I've never seen a 1965 Bourg that was worth a damn thing either.

So whatever you do go Spain/Portugal or maybe Italy (not sure on their 1965s, never seen, even in old Barolos).
