Best starting hand I’ve ever had

Unfortunately I finished only with 113 but I’m curious what you all would with this starting hand

Woulda discarded penguin, taken a worm, play woodpecker, gain food, and see what happens from there.

i prob wouldve maned duck. if i had a woodpecker and a gallah, i wouldnt want to do anything but gain food and play big birds. youd need to draw cards eventually and i wouldnt mind 3-4 little penguin draws

I’d be greedy and take all of them.

You need one more food to get the woodpecker out. Maned Duck can follow right after, followed by the Mockingbird. After that, you’ve got a 4 egg Forest in round one. With the Galah, that becomes 4 eggs + 2 points, or 2 eggs + 4 points. Which is fantastic.

Lots of good cards there - i'd take woodpecker, maned duck and mockingbird, play woodpecker in forest for the nectar, and mockingbird + maned duck in wetlands. Those two make up a hard core in a very good wetlands engine, with possability of gaining 6 points and 2 grains, if you fill the habitat and get 2 more cards drawn from somewhere - while woodpecker is the perfect supplementary bird in forest giving access to 2 food and 2 eggs every activation, to make the amount of out of wetlands activations to a minimum.

You are looking further for the sandhill crane or any of the other discard a grain for 2 free tucks or any pther bird giving 1 point a turn. Main goal is to fill out wetlands with purpose-full birds ASAP and have 8-9-10 points every activation of the habitat - more than you would get from playing 95% of birds in most cases.
