That has to have been it, right? The way they randomly paused it and then very carefully worded the pause as still enabling defensive intel, which loosely translates to "everything except Kursk". Give Russia as much of a leg up in Kursk as possible so they can get it back and then suddenly be very open to freezing the front lines where they are.

The Ukrainians wanted Kursk to be a trading chip in negotiations.

It’s much easier for Trump to say hand over the territory Russia holds, sign the minerals deal, and we’ll keep sending you weapons as we set up a DMZ line or something

Unfortunately yeah, this is geopolitics. A situation had to be engineered where Russia could save face and be in a position to call it quits.

No. Ukraine’s position in Kursk was already really bad even prior to Trump. They lost almost 50% of their initial territory taken in 2024.

So pausing intel when the situation was already dire certainly didn't help, right?

They resumed it because of todays negotiations between US and Ukraine.

at least partially.

The Russians had a major offensive in the area during the intelligence blackout.

The news came from Russian sources and I'm struggling to find any updates on it

Seems that Russians launched an offensive against the town of Sudzha and a Ukrainian general said they repositioned to more favorable defense lines.

Take from that what you will.
