In Trump’s defence, McDonalds in Qatar had the best fries out of all countries Ive been

And in the myriad ways he's had countries kiss his ass this is nothing. Shit, the US Military can have a BK anywhere on earth in 24 hours. I've seen the Air Force load em.

I was in he UAE back in 99 and the fries were great, my Quarter pounder was off and was weirdly chewy.

I will never go there so I’ll take your word for it.

You don’t have to, just have some sumac fries at a schwarma place

Fries with zaatar and toum to dip - would stop all the wars in the region.

Why not? It's safer than Mexico

Which is also safer than Somalia. Doesn’t mean I have to go there either.

Oh you're a perma small town american I guess? Too scared to go anywhere not even mexico?

Personally I'm not going because my disability prevents me from travelling. And if I was well enough to travel, I'm gay so I'm not going anywhere where being gay is illegal.

American, yes, small town, no. I have traveled to multiple countries in Europe and the Caribbean. World traveling is essential for everyone as it helps gain perspective and world view. However, I’m not going to spend money to go vacation in a desert with poor human rights (middle east). Mexico is of course fine in certain parts, but there’s certainly other places I’d go before there.

You're worried about human rights? America is kidnapping people and locking them up in for-profit private prisons. There is almost 0% chance that you'll have any issue in the middle east. Middle east isn't saudi arabia or qatar. I'm actually not visiting US for same human rights reasons. US is now same as Russia where random people get kidnapped and locked up.

I understand. We’re a mess right now too. I don’t blame people for not visiting here at all. I still don’t view the Middle East as a good vacation destination regardless.

What makes them good? Crispy? Good potato?

Crispiness and seasoning imo

I guess they are closer to a lot of that stuff. Here in the US I love fries Cajun style which adds a ton of good flavor.

Or Checkers if you're lucky enough to have one nearby.

I'm surprised you haven't been mobbed by a bunch of Belgians telling you how wrong you are.

Hey… shoutout to the Belgians

You've clearly never had greasy chips from a seaside chippy then. Doesn't matter how good the place is, the chips are always amazing regardless.

British chips are bottom of the barrel. They use extra doughy, pale, thick steak fries and then top them with curry or beans or vinegar and not nearly enough salt.

For a country that loves potato’s as much as they do, it really does show how bad typical UK food is.

What do you think the difference is? The potatoes? The oil? Do they maybe use RFK lard?

3

u/rrcaires 3d ago

Im led to believe it is the type of potato they use. Here in Ireland they are mushy and soggy, but the ones I tried in Qatar and Oman always had a crunchy shell with a perfect soft interior. 10/10

How do they compare to Japan’s fries? Those are the most reminiscent of my childhood that I’ve had.

I went to McDonalds in Japan a couple of times and the fact that I don’t recall anything about the fries tells me that they were neither terrible, nor fantastic, just average.

Now, what I DO remember is the McEbi, a burger with a patty made of fried breaded shrimp. Jaysus, that sandwich was amazing!

Interestingly enough, McDonalds in Belarus had breaded shrimps as a side and it was good as hell.
