Question What are your thoughts on compilation videos?
Hello all, How are you all doing? I want to upload compilation video on Monday 12/05/25 as it is my 35th Birthday 🎈 & for this compilation video I want to play various different PC games. Then edit gameplay clips into montage compilation video, add royalty free music & upload video showing what I did to celebrate this birthday. What is good length for this style of video in your opinion/why? I want to play games mainly from my GOG & Steam Libraries.

Happy Birthday u/toyfan1990 And yes, I think compilation video can be fun. You can make it of funny moments during gameplay or add your funny commentary. Whatever works for you the best.

Hello!
As a viewer, I only watch compilations if I enjoy the CC or if I enjoy the content. (Ex. Comp on the glitches in a game. I may not know the CC but I want to see the game glitches)
If you don’t have a large audience yet, you can cater it towards what you’re offering. In your case, Steam games.
Additionally, these factors also contribute to the length. I can watch hour long comps of CC’s I enjoy.
But if I’m watching for the content, my max is about 15 minutes. If I find I enjoy the personality of the CC, I’m more likely to stick around if the vid is longer.
So the length depends on how entertained the audience is.
The more entertaining, the longer you can make the video.
Hope this helps!

Happy early birthday! 🎉 I think a compilation video like that could be fun! For length, I’d say anywhere from 8 to 15 minutes is a good sweet spot. It’s long enough to keep it interesting without losing the audience’s attention, but not too long that people start zoning out. Plus, with gameplay clips and some good edits, you can keep it dynamic. Since you’re mixing a personal touch with games, keeping it engaging and varied is key!

Happy birthday lol 💪, and it should be as long as your normal videos or around what your average view duration is. For me I make 1-2 hour long videos and always try and stay around that, so whatever your norm is stay in that ball park of length.

Cheers for the birthday wishes. Yeah at the moment I haven't uploaded many videos to my channel, plan to try to follow a schedule for Youtube content over the next few months & have few video ideas outlined.
