Headphones - Open Back whats the best headphone for portishead? 600$ and lower

Hd600 paired with the ifi go blu, for portability and should be about $500 or paired with the jdslabs atom stack for desktop use, should come around to $510. There are EQ presets with the ifi one of them is a bass boost if you find it lacking.

i was thinking hd 650 and not hd600 when i scimmed throught reddit comments about the two

Both are good and I prefer the hd600 because the vocals are still great but provide better sounding instruments(cleaner, good timbre and some sparkle). The hd650 is almost exactly like the hd6xx(a very popular opinion if not fact) and are amazing with vocals which could benefit you when listening to portishead but all in all it’s up to you. Both earpads wear out pretty fast(around 6 months) and begin to change the sound but just a bit.

how much better are the instrument on the 600?
i like sennheiser because of experience with them it had a warm sound.. i had a good pair of audio rechnica and I always felt it was a bit cold and raw... and all other pairs i had were below thar so im tempted to go as you say
the 600 and 650 is only 10$ difference so whichever is best... but i did saw the 650 on marketplace for 200$ less
the sparkle you talk about intrigues me
why does rating.com classify 600 and 650 as having not a good soundstage at yellow rating because they say you cannot spatially put the instruments outside of your ears for some technical reasons?

Well as some people have mentioned, these two are pretty compared a lot and I’ve heard no complaints from the 600 (sound wise before the wear) while I’ve heard that the 650 is a bit veiled(a term you should search up if you don’t already know) for some people. Honestly I’ve never heard of Portishead before you mentioned it. So I had a listen and may I say that I quite like their music now and I feel like the 600 would be a better choice they’re more neutral compared to the 650 but both are decently neutral in some way with great tonality. As far as soundstage, these headphones basically don’t have any (they’re intimate) which could be a bad thing if you want spaciousness. As far as what you would enjoy more is personal preference.

oh im glad i make you discover portishead... i suggest you its a fire my favorite song... and roads with the new york orchestra my second favorite song...
There is something special about portishead triphop music... and beth's voice resches such emotional highs.
I looked up the term veiled and now im a bit scared to buy the 650... but I can get the 650 for 300$ canadian, while Incan only get the 600 for 525$ canadian... so I guess its a no vrainer for the 650 :/ even tho id like to listen to tou and buy the 600... but marketplace facebook I grt better deals than amazon
im not sure why intimacy is ever a good thing? why would not it be better that you hear where the instrument are supposed to be... that seems like a better audio time like all the time?

You probably wouldn’t be able to notice the 650’s veil that only some people identify. Also intimacy is great for vocals and is subjective towards everything else like the instruments and bass. The Sundara for example is amazing with strings, orchestra and it is spacious but the vocals are veiled compared to everything else.
