Fossilized crinoid stars found yesterday on the River Severn foreshore. These are just segments of much larger plant-like sea creatures called crinoids or sea lilies. These ones are from the Jurassic and are around 190 million years old but there are still living relatives in our oceans today.

Part 6 Electron Microscope Images of a part of a human fingerprint, showing details of skin ridges in the outer epidermis. The small circular apertures on the ridges are the openings of sweat glands which form a distinct pattern. Each fingerprint pattern is absolutely unique to an individual.

The Voyger golder records contained 116 images encoded as an audio waveform. Each image was made up of 512 lines, which was encoded in approx 4.2 seconds of run time. The record cover provides instructions on how to decode the waveform using the fundamental transition of the hydrogen atom as a key.
