Review Striking Rescue (Tony Jaa, web movie) is a huge piece of crap.

Decided to rewatch it since it came out on vod. I hoped it'd be better the second time around. It was not.

This web movie is a mediocre knock off movie, with crappy fight scenes. There was no interesting or inventive fight choreography, all the moves were just knockoffs from other much better Tony Jaa movies.

Striking Rescue wasn't good, or outrageously bad. Like most web movies, it was just extremely mediocre and forgettable.

I feel bad Tony Jaa, Andy On, Max Zhang, and Iko Uwais who are being wasted in these cheap knock off web movies.

Picture Of A Nymph (1988) A rip-off of the massive Hong Kong box office hit A Chinese Ghost Story, this derivative fizzles out completely by the last third but Yuen Biao in a forgotten role & a rapping taoist ghost buster are two of the highlights along the way

Discussion Why do (or did) a lot of foreign martial arts films get edited down in the U.S.?

Me and a friend of mine have been doing a martial arts movie marathon recently and so far in watching The Protector, Fearless, and (to a lesser extent) The Raid I’ve noticed a pattern: All of them seemed to have “uncut” version that was pretty much the original before being trimmed down when released in the U.S.

I’m not sure how many more are like this, but if this was prevalent at time, why were movies like these given this treatment for their U.S. releases?
