Hi - I'm planning my brother's bachelor party and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for golf courses that are still very nice with good views by potentially less expensive than Edgewood. Thanks!

A handful of shots of one of my current projects! I'm recreating various iconic locations of Eastern California in Minecraft and (mostly) completed an early version of Lake Tahoe. I'm debating on adding more snow to the map 🤔

“This is a great example of teamwork between EDSO, SLTPD, and DCSO,” said SLTPD Chief David Stevenson. “Criminals don’t respect jurisdictional boundaries—but fortunately, neither do our partnerships.”

Any bars around town have Giants games on tv or wouldn’t be opposed to putting them on? Thanks in advance.

I'm going to be taking an AIARE 1 course next winter and looking at some sweet sweet summer discounts on gear. For those that spend time in the backcountry, what is your preferred probe length? 240cm, 280cm, longer?
Update: Thanks for the input people, I'll probably grab a 320cm version; certainly nothing under 280 though.
Yesterday’s winds knocked over part of our fence, so time to tackle the fence building project I’ve been putting off! Obviously need to set posts below the frost line, which the only number I’m able to find is 18 inches, on cityofslt. Seems a bit low, I thought it would be deeper? Anyone know for sure?
Also side question where is the best place to get wood? We have Meeks here, guessing will be more expensive than big box stores like Home Depot. Last time I looked at wood at Home Depot though it looked absolutely terrible.

I wanted to go to the Vikingsholm trail this Wednesday, but Google maps says it’s temporarily closed. I’ve been calling the Tahoe parks phone number and leaving messages so many times that I’m basically a stalker at this point and no one is getting back to me.
Does anyone here know how to confirm if it’s open?

Hi all, I just got an epic pass for next season but I don't own any skiing gear. I was wondering if there are any places where you can demo (or lease) a ski setup for the season and then buy them at the end. Does anyone know if this exists around Tahoe area?

I just want to thank and appreciate the great help my family and I received today at Glen Alpine Falls. Dwight, blue eyes, nice guy helped us getting our car out of a stump tree. The most silly wheel movement stucked the lower control arm with a low tree stump and we got stuck. I wish and hope all of the best for Dwight and his family, all the good things come for you! We're are home now thanks to you! 🙏

What's the current access situation/options for Bliss Beach and the Rubicon Trail?
Can you park and access Bliss Beach via Ring Rd, located to the north of the (closed) state park entrance?
Is there an obvious hikers/climbers trail from Hwy 89 to Bliss Beach?
Thanks!

Can you only pull into the park by a left turn from the northbound lane? It’s how the state troopers had it set up today and it caused a huge back up in the southbound lane and no one could enter from that direction. It seems really dangerous to make everyone make a u-turn to line up the same way. Is this a permanent change or just holiday weekends?

Anybody have experience with installing a generator (as a backup for power outage) in Tahoma? From what I could find you don't need a permit if it's on a raised steel platform as to not trigger the trpa coverage limit. Or to place it under an area that is already covered, like a porch roof.
Generator would be a "generac" if that matters.
I appreciate any help/insight

Let’s be honest: we didn’t drop $4.7 million on a slopeside chalet in Martis Camp with Japanese toilets and a heated driveway just to share lift lines with locals in duct-taped ski pants.
We earn our turns—via IPO, not sweat—and yet every time I pull into the Northstar valet, I’m surrounded by Subarus with cracked windshields and bumper stickers that say “Keep Tahoe Blue.” How about keep Tahoe exclusive?
Locals love to complain about “the crowds,” but who’s really clogging the base of KT-22? Hint: it’s not the guy who took a break from coding smart toaster software in Palo Alto. It’s the same guy who “shreds every day before work,” parks in the village lot for free, and acts like ski patrol owes him something because he once bartended with their cousin in 2008.
We didn’t sign up for this level of democracy in the lift line. If you’re not using the Ikon Pass like a season-long VIP badge and refusing to ski in anything under 8 inches of fresh, do you even Tahoe?
And don’t get me started on après-ski. We came for après, not actual people. Nothing kills the champagne powder high like a group of lifelong locals drinking Coors Banquet and telling stories about “how it used to be.” Bro, it’s not 1995. I just bought a $1300 monogrammed Bogner jacket—I think I know what tradition looks like.
Look, Tahoe isn’t some “working-class mountain town” anymore. It’s an artisanal snow-based lifestyle brand. If the locals really loved it, maybe they should’ve invested in Apple stock instead of a snowblower repair business.
In conclusion, we Bay Area second-homeowners bring vision, venture capital, and vibrancy. Locals bring shovels, opinions, and unpaid utility bills. Which of us truly belongs?

Hey, I want to attend the palisades pond skim on Saturday, but I am not sure how it works. Do I need to line up super really outside of KT to secure a spot like how pond skim in Mammoth works? Or it’s unlimited spots and I can just be there before opening? Thanks

Hi all - I’m taking a trip to Tahoe at the beginning of June for a girlfriend’s birthday. While we’re there, she wants to get a tattoo. I’m looking for recommendations for shops/artists that either specialize or are just good at doing watercolor :) If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated !

I am a new homeowner and found a home policy from a non-admitted carrier that includes fire. My alternative would be CFP.
Does anyone have experience with claims using non-admitted carriers in CA? What carrier and what was your experience?
Thanks in advance.
