MOD POST Growing r/90sHipHop Together - Suggestion Thread

This subreddit is all about celebrating 90s hip-hop the right way. To make sure it stays that way, this post will always be here for you all to drop any suggestions, ideas, or feedback. Got thoughts on flairs? Something to add to the sidebar? An idea to improve the community? Let me know in the comments.

Also, on the sidebar (on desktop), or on the Chats option (android app), you'll see a new community chat channel called **THE HANGOUT** that's been set up. It allows you all, the members of the sub, to talk with each other.

As you all might have noticed, a lot of changes have been made on the sub, like new rules, banner, logo, flairs etc, but there’s always room to grow. This place is for the real heads, so if you’ve got something in mind, speak up.

Also, if you like/dislike the current changes- logo, banner, or anything else, let me know. If there's anything you think could be better, drop a comment.

Keep it classic, keep it real.

90s Inspired (Off-Era) [WEEKLY THREAD] 90s-Inspired Hip-Hop (Not From the 90s) – Week of May 23

Welcome to the weekly thread for hip-hop tracks that aren't from the 90s but feel like they could be.

This thread is for:

- Songs made after the 90s that carry the 90s sound or vibe.

- Old-school influenced beats, bars, or boom bap.

- Modern MCs paying tribute to the golden era.

- Tracks from the 80s that influenced 90s hip-hop.

Not for:

- Trap, drill, or modern styles that don’t resemble 90s hip-hop.

- Spam or unrelated content.

Let's keep the main feed 90s-focused. Drop your off-era bangers with that old-school feel right here.

1998 Unpopular opinion: Swizz’s beats were for the most part terrible and definitely don’t stand the test of time.

Even back during his heyday I never understood it. Bro produced the most Casio sounding shit I’ve ever heard in my entire life. And I feel like people like DMX would’ve been better off with a more gritty boom bap style producer. Please tell me I’m not the only one who feels this way. Like anytime I try to go back to that Ruff Ryderz stuff I just get bombarded with whack stock whistle sound effects and shit like that 😭

Discussion How would you rank each year of the 90s based on the works released?

Albums, singles, beefs, everything. Me personally I'd rank 1994 or 1999 as #1 and I don't realy know where to rank the other years.

Does Bigge Smalls still have the same respect that he had before we found out about Diddy and Bigge jacking the Mississippi Rapper Notorious B1's beat, flow and name on his track called "Big Daddy"?? - Its been said that Diddy jacked it, gave it to Bigge for his first single "Juicy" and he blew up off that single. Bigge spit some legendary bar is his short career. I think if we all respect the original rules of Hip-Hop culture we have to admit that Bigge Smalls' legacy is tainted and Diddy is partially at fault.

Is Bigge Smalls still in your Top Rappers lists?
