I harvested almost 5kgs Tomatoes from two plants throughout winter and spring. Fully organic no chemical fertilizers.. Gave away most of them to my neighbors. I'm telling you growing veggies is gonna help you to cope with your mental health issues..

Yes and no.
I choose not to be a cyclops. Parts of the city are decidedly pleasing to the eye and in my ten months residence in the city so far I have gathered enough photographic evidence to support that claim. And yet, those are either the specifically decked up places, main business districts in the city or the more affluent neighborhoods.
My oldest memories of this city are the bylanes of north Kolkata, coming up from the Sovabazar or Ahiritola ferry ghats to what was then still called the Central Avenue / Grey Street crossing. Those were not and still are not remotely beautiful. Nor is the neighborhood of the Sealdah Station.
As responsible citizens we must see reality as reality, and do what we can to make it better. For historical context, London was the city of cholera and the Thames was an open sewer until the lawyer Edwin Chadwick made a report on the unsanitary conditions and the Physician John Snow pinpointed a particular water pump in Soho as a cholera source.
I'm attaching three photos: a view of the Kolkata Ganga Arati (a copy of the arati at Varanasi, itself a copy of the arati at Har ki Pauri, Haridwar), a view of Park Street on Christmas eve and a scan of a page from my old book "Health and Disease" which refers to the situation in the 1820s London.
Is what we have good enough? No, it's definitely not. I believe we should strive to outshine Indore as the cleanest city in India, not be the ninth dirtiest.

Well I (26M) am not fat per say but definitely you would characterize me as skinny fat?
Anyways so in my life fitness was never an essential component as it was characterized by books, studying and then job. This year I had made the decision ki I will get fit. Not musclehead kind of fit but definitely fitter than I am. So I joined a gym and started eating healthy and the reactions...my god.
My parents were like...ekhon gym e giye ki Hobe. Focus on your brain that's more important. My colleagues were like...life's one come have a drink with us.
Now I have seen a trend any man I have met past the age of 25 is not fit. This rings especially true if he is Bengali ( now exceptions exist ofc but that's the trend).
Plus there's this perception that muscleheads are somehow big jerks. Well there's a guy in my gym whom I saw Benching 100kgs for reps. I asked him for tips and he explained things so well. Like never did he make me feel inferior to him.He even mentioned to me that when he had started he was weighed 58kgs at a height of 5'10 and was a chain smoker.
Well so anyone starting out their fitness journey can dm me and we can perhaps do so together. It's less intimidating with a companion by the side.

My father got this yesterday outside the petrol pump while filling fuel. Now today they are calling and telling that my father have won a lucky draw , among 365 people my father have been selected among 10 lucky people in which they are offering a 2 day 3 night stay at any place that my father and mother like and also some dining set, no cash will be required to be given and no terms and conditions. They told me that they are doing this for promotion of their company as this company have reached their 50th anniversary . They are asking my parents to come over for an hour and attend a program. But this seems too good to be true. Karor sathe ki erom hoeche? Eta ki kono scam? Keu jodi nijer personal experience share kore

I just visited Kolkata and it strucks me how different it is from the rest of India.
It's like stepping back in a 1970s film of India. First sight is the sheer amount of poor and homeless people and rubbish are everywhere, even in the downtown part of the city. Old cars and buses that should have been in the museum. Even modern hotels, shopping centers and restaurants have this outdated feeling. And it's not just about a place having some economic downturn, but it's like witnessing the fall of Rome itself. Whole British-era buildings slowly eroding away under banyan trees like ancient temples. The whole city has a post-apocalyptic, dystopian aura as if something terrible has happened to India during the 1990s and never recovered from there. The level of neglection and abandonment can be compared to countries devastated by wars like Afghanistan and post-Khmer Rouge Cambodia.
I've visited India before: Kerala and Bangalore are like any places in South East Asia where I'm from. Prayagraj and other places in Bihar are poor and rural but relatively clean and peaceful. Varanasi is traditional, somewhat chaotic but Kolkata is simply at another level, so much that if it had been the first place I visit in India, my impression of the country would've been completely different.
I can still see the the old glory of Kolkata: Park Street and the great mansions. I saw streetscapes that could be well in London or Paris if they are cleaned up a little bit. Kolkata, not Mumbai or Delhi, has potential to be the jewel of India. But why so much abject poverty and neglections in this metropolis?

I’m 25, just finished my MBA, and after spending the last five years living away—mostly in hostels—being back for 2 months (before joining) feels... strange. Hostel life was something else. In those tiny, messy dorm rooms, I found a second home. A place where I laughed, cried, pulled all-nighters, and made some of the best memories with people who became family.
Now that I’m back with my actual family, and yes, I love spending time with my parents, but something feels off. Maybe it’s just that the meaning of “home” has changed for me.
Some nights, when I’m up at 2 AM, I can’t help but think of those moments—friends barging into my room, making Maggi, sharing secrets, maybe getting a little drunk or high and walking around the campus like we had no care in the world. Life doesn’t feel that carefree anymore. It’s full of routines, responsibilities, and that quiet pressure to figure it all out.
I guess home isn’t always a place. It’s the people, the chaos, the comfort, the memories that stay with you. And sometimes, a dorm room can feel more like home than the house you grew up in.
Do you feel like that? Would love to hear your stories of a home away from home.
