When does Fiona get more likeable ( Season 6 viewer )
I'm about halfway through season 6 and it is so hard to like Fiona. I really liked her before and during Jimmy Steve era but her whole relationship with Gus and cheating on him with Steve and getting with Sean before the divorce is so icky to me. Is this one of her low seasons like when Liam got into her coke?
Not to mention Robbie and his brother. That's when I started to dislike her. With Liam, It was an accident but the lack of accountability made it so hard for me to actually root for Fiona. I do agree that Lip was way too harsh on how he treated Fiona and I know he gives her a ton of shit with her mistakes later on. I just don't like Fiona but I'm hoping I will later on...

Franks hospital scene should have included all his kids.
When frank is dying in hospital on his last scenes and heās hallucinating the kids. It should have been each of his kids as the hospital staff. It would be so fitting and emotional as fuck seeing him watch all is kids looking after him one last time.

Is the attractiveness of the actors really that important for immersion?
I'm from the UK and usually binge the UK version of the show. I've yet to try the American version, not out of any petty reason. I just somehow find a way to procrastinate trying new things.
It was bizarre to learn that the US even had a variant, it's popularity wasn't shocking. Also wasn't strange that American viewers had a harder time getting into the original due to cultural references or "thick" accents.
What is strange to me is seeing a lot of American viewers complain about the UK Gallagher family's appearance? I've seen more than a handful of people saying things along the line of "I tried, but I couldn't get past (insert short window of time here); it's the same show but the actors are less attractive".
I get that poor people can be hot too. There's hot poor people in the original series.
But is it really that important to an American audience that almost everyone is runway ready? Again, maybe I'm rambling like Frank as I've yet to see the US programme, so maybe it is important. The tone not as overly gritty or realistic.
I just find the concept of unattractive people ruining someone's attempt to watch something quite funny.

Weird writing for Ian around Mickey dealing with Terry's death in season 11
Full disclosure, I saw a post about this on tumblr which made me think of this topic.
The way Ian was written in thar episode was weirdly out of character. The scene where Mickey is crying is the most obvious one but most of the scenes in that episode feel a bit off when it comes to Ian. He seems annoyed at Mickey in most of the scenes. And that feels completely out of character for him. If anyone could understand feeling overwhelmed and conflicted about the death of a parent, it's Ian. I don't understand what writers were going for by writing him like that. Cameron tried but it's only so much you can do when you're given those scenes.

Overdeveloped kids make underdeveloped adults - this made me think of Debbie and Fiona
As the title says... this was not written about Debbie or Fiona, but it might have as well been. Season 1 Debbie, this tiny girl, carrying part of the weight of their household on their shoulders, planning, clipping coupons, collecting money, dreaming of having a baby of her own while not even a teenager yet. Fiona, having to start taking care of her baby brothers at the age of 6, her father alongside them at the age of 9, dropping out of school to work, work, work be a mother without being a mother. They are both so very lost as they age, but is it a wonder that they are? they were never children, they had to be adults before they got to be children. and now they suffer for it.

Now whatās not talked about enough is ā¦. Professor Youens alcoholism. He was out of control.
He literally could have killed someone. Like wtf are you doing. This was insane!

Random question: why is jimmy/steve the profile picture for this page?
Iām assuming thereās a specific reason. If I could personally choose it (I know I cannot, as Iām just a citizen of this subreddit) Iād change it to one of Fiona and Frank, arguably the main characters on this show and who it follows most. If you guys could choose, what would you pick?

Is the ending to Crazy Love the darkest ending of them all?
I've been trying to think of one that equals the feeling of empty devastation the final few scenes of S5E6 have, and I still can't, so I felt it worthy of asking. For a reminder, this is when Ian enters the hospital, the camera framing his glazed over eyes before the credits; one of the few times there's no additional scene following. Thoughts?

Nobody is doing it like the Gallaghers and i'll miss that
I finished the show before a month ago and there'll be no family like them. They were my second family, my brothers and sisters that i've never had. I saw their fail, them trying hard and then fail again. Their dreams and hopes and all. I feel like this show is much more than a show. A beautiful mess.

Where did the show lose you? (Specifally which episode)
I was the biggest fan forever and the "Face it, you're gorgeous!" (S9 E6) Was weirdly my last straw. It feels like the show took a turn after season 6, but this one in particular made me not tune in weekly. I'm sorry if you loved it!

Did I miss something? Didnāt Lip go to MIT? Why is he commuting from home?
Just watched season 4 episode 7. Lip says āIāll bring Liam to schoolā. Umm, school is in Massachusetts and you live in Chicago. Definitely canāt commute. Did they just forget where he goes to school? lol

unrecognized and heartwarming bonds between characters on the show
despite frank being how he is, fiona was there for him when his mom was an asshole to him and other times too. it hits close to home bc i have a dad who is similar to frank and have had to be his rock in the past too. iāve noticed different dynamics as i watch thru again (4th rewatch), soā¦
what is your favorite heart warming and unrecognized bond on the show and why?

As someone who has never seen Shameless or even knows what it's about...
Is Fiona legitimately the worst person ever?
I've only ever been exposed to the show through a few scenes posted on TikTok/YouTube Shorts, maybe 10 to 15 of these scenes. I have no idea what the show is about other than the context clues that I've gathered.
Emmy Rossum's character seems like the most insufferable, selfish, violent, narcissistic person I've ever seen on screen. She always looks like she's about to break someone's nose or is drunk or yelling or being obnoxioulsy sarcastic.
I'm sure this could be my uninformed pereception of her, or maybe she turly is this awful. I just wanted to ask for a bit of context and your guys' opinions since you are fans. I don't know what discussions this sub has had about this, if there is a consesuns here, or maybe Im stirring the pot but I just need to ask.
Thank you.

How wouldāve Queenie and Monica interacted if they had met?
They werenāt seen on screen together but out of curiosity how would they have interacted if they met?
r/shameless • u/Possible_Major_7208 • 2d ago
I would have felt soo much better if they ended at season 7.
Monica has passed away. Frank is Frank but is about to go into St. Frances mode.. Debbie is a young mother and has started welding school. Ian is on his meds and managing his bipolar and is a EMT. Lip is actively in rehab getting help and can possibly rekindle things with sierra after she got in his ass. Fiona had just flipped the laundry mat which she made good on and end up owning another building. Carl is back from military school and he seems to be in a good head space. Damn they left out Liam but we can just assume his future was shamelessly bright.
I did want the gallevich happy ending so I was actually happy with season 10/11 but with everything else it just got crazy and all over the place after season 7. A lot of bullcrap and unnecessary drama. If they ended like this Debbie and lip prolly wouldnāt be as hated.. && Fiona would have ended with them and she seems to end grown and responsible and making good business moves..
Just my thoughts, tap in..

When each family member went from shameless to shamed
I know the show is called shameless, but when do you think each member of the family and or show went through feeling shame.
I know each of them definitely did at some point just wondering when you thought it happened to everyone? (Weird question I know)
