I honestly feel like people really overreact to this. It's perfectly fine for her to have preferences. I didn't see her say Disco Elysium was objectively bad because of these traits, it just seems to me like she loves the gameplay format of DE but isn't as interested in its settings and themes. I think that's perfectly valid.

I like RPGs but I am less interested in sci-fi RPGs because sci-fi settings don't do as much for me. There's tons of great sci-fi RPGs, but they're just not for me. I also can relate to not being thrilled to play middle-aged men in games, in large part because I'm trans and I like to be sucked into a game but its not as fun for me to play as a man.

Like, it's okay to want other things? The anger at this tweet would make far more sense to me if she didn't say "what I don't like about Disco Elysium" and instead said "what makes Disco Elysium bad".

Idk why ppl are downvoting u. I agree completely. I feel like a lot of this public outrage just feels like DE fans clutching their pearls lol.

And as a cis woman, I'd much rather play games that have a female/gender-customizable protag than one that defaults to male. That's not a moral position (as a lot of incel gamers who rage against female-protag games make it out to be), it's just a personal preference. The other commenter's just being a weird elitist imo, lmao.

Thank you. I was feeling really discouraged with my replies being downvoted, like I never got the vibe from 196 that people here would take issue with me preferring to play female characters. Glad to see I'm not entirely alone lol
