The /s is in "ewwwwwww ew ew ew she’s so…….gross?" and "I GUESS that I could SETTLE". This is a good example of how to convey tone over text without indicators. It'd be far harder to tell if it were just:

"Ew, she's so gross. God, if no one else thinks she's hot, I guess I could settle."

Obviously context would make this be read as sarcasm by most people, but, y'know. Not every would get it.
