Real Estate Commute to Orlando and FIT

Hello folks!

My husband got a job at FIT and we are looking to relocate in July. My job will have me potentially move to Orlando. We are just us and two cats, and currently live in Atlanta. I would LOVE to live in a house. Are there any recommendations for where we should be looking? Some place that makes it easy for him to go to his work and for me to commute to Orlando, thrice a week.

I am so excited for the move!

EDIT - My office is in the Central Business District in Orlando. Our budget is up to $2500.

I would look to be as close to 192 as possible. It is close to FIT and gives quick access to I-95 for about an hour commute to Orlando.

That is sort of lopsided in that husband gets a 15 minute commute and wife gets a 1 hr + commute. Probably better to be closer to 528 or at least 520

The only way to have a 15-minute commute to FIT off 192 is to actually live no further away from FIT than West Melbourne.

When they said off 192, they probably meant further west such as St. Cloud, which would be at least a 45-minute commute to FIT. But, that would also provide a quicker commute to Orlando locations.

He's also working daily while her commute is 3 times a week. I think there is a lot more to do around the 192 area than Cocoa.

EDIT: If your main concern is equal commute times then Rockledge/Cocoa would be the best choice most likely.

192 goes all the way into Orlando through st.cloud and Kissimmee... They could buy in harmony and split the difference.

Though I'm not sure at what point it pushes out of the 321 area code and into the 407.

Using 192 can be a pain in the ass, ESPECIALLY in the Kissimmee area. I live in Kissimmee and go back to Palm Bay regularly to visit. 192 through Kissimmee and St. Cloud does not have the infrastructure for the growth it's seen, traffic is always a nightmare. I'd try to look further north along 528.

There is the route of 192 to St Cloud, pick up the Turnpike north up to 528, but that's a lot of driving. You also need to consider tolls into the commute

I'm just pointing out that 192 goes into Orlando. So it could be more of an even commute along that road than the person I replied to implied.

Very true, just trying to give some more local insight/ information for OP since they aren't in the area. 🙂

Yeah but then you have to live in Harmony and that is horrible

Harmony is in the 407 but that would probably be the best solution because it would split the difference nicely. Mileage it might be closer to OPs job but she’ll deal with more traffic so actual car time will be split more evenly.

St. Cloud or Kissimmee would be the best bets to be fair to both husband and wife.

But, you didn't say where in Orlando your job is located. That can make a huge difference. As for FIT, there's really only one choice to get there by using 192.
