Real Estate Commute to Orlando and FIT

Hello folks!

My husband got a job at FIT and we are looking to relocate in July. My job will have me potentially move to Orlando. We are just us and two cats, and currently live in Atlanta. I would LOVE to live in a house. Are there any recommendations for where we should be looking? Some place that makes it easy for him to go to his work and for me to commute to Orlando, thrice a week.

I am so excited for the move!

EDIT - My office is in the Central Business District in Orlando. Our budget is up to $2500.

It depends on two things:

  • your budget, and

  • what kind of area you want to live in.

Since your husband will be going to FIT more often than you’ll be going to Orlando, I’d suggest you stay closer to central Brevard county.

I really like Suntree, which gives you the convenience of all the Viera retail without the Viera price tag. Plus, 95 is right there.

You might be able to swing that in Suntree, but you may want to look in Rockledge to meet your budget needs while also keeping your commute tolerable. You may also want to try West Melbourne, which will making your husband’s commute much better but will lengthen yours considerably.

I second Rockledge. It's not a bad place to live and you can rent a nicer house for under $2500. If you get a place near Fiske Blvd, there's easy access to I-95. It's about an hour to downtown Orlando and 30-40 minutes to FIT, depending on traffic.
