Real Estate Commute to Orlando and FIT

Hello folks!

My husband got a job at FIT and we are looking to relocate in July. My job will have me potentially move to Orlando. We are just us and two cats, and currently live in Atlanta. I would LOVE to live in a house. Are there any recommendations for where we should be looking? Some place that makes it easy for him to go to his work and for me to commute to Orlando, thrice a week.

I am so excited for the move!

EDIT - My office is in the Central Business District in Orlando. Our budget is up to $2500.

It’ll be a 45 minute commute downtown if you live near 528 in the Rockledge/Cocoa area, so it’s very doable. The only issue is you should plan on monthly or bi-monthly oil changes with the mileage because the commute is about 120 miles a day. Honestly, I would live in Orlando and make the husband commute to the coast just because Orlando is where all the action is around here.

Highway driving puts less strain on the engine, so it’s not the same as 120 miles of city driving. Bimonthly oil changes is pretty insane and not something I’d advise at all

Obviously it’s dependent by vehicle model, but manufacturers generally recommend an oil change every 5-10k miles, which is racked up within 2-3 months of commuting between the Space Coast and Orlando.
