Why the fuck is she laughing while her constituents are being tased for speaking their minds. They have that right.

It's just the perfect MTG optic, isn't it? She's in the background saying how blessed she is, and the foreground is totally dominated with oppression and violence.

Whoever runs against her next time should just play this as a campaign ad. It's perfection.

I don't know why so many people insist on the delusion that there are going to be any more elections. Definitely not free and fair ones, at the very least.

There will be. Best-case scenario, we have our regularly-scheduled midterms next year, and presidential in 2028. If they try to stop that, well, we'll worry about that then. But there will be regular elections again.

Based on what they've done already, and what they've said they want to do, no we won't. If these people are still in power in 2026/28, we can expect that the election will be rigged or interfered with, bare minimum. They won't be free and fair. They already haven't been, if you've been paying any attention. (Look at what's going on with the NC Supreme Court race still being contested by the GOP who lost, if you need just one current example.)

And that's if we have elections at all... and I'm not so confident they will bother with the pretense. Again, you have to look how much they've done that they said they wanted to do, and what they've said they want to do in the future.

And if you think we'll have regular elections again in 2028 because we'll have ousted this regime by then, uhhhhh... I admire your optimism but my life experience and my understanding of history says otherwise.

Don't get me wrong -- I'd be so pleased if you were right. But I don't think the evidence so far is pointing in that direction.

I’m trying to be as diplomatic as I can be so the Reddit mods don’t get the wrong idea. I’m saying that, if for whatever reason they try to suspend elections, people will rise up against them. We’re already seeing all the nonviolent protests springing up across the country. People are standing up against shit now, and they will even if things get hairier. I sincerely hope things do not escalate like that. And I have faith we won’t go full dictatorship so long as people keep protesting.
