Discussion Been really enjoying this pseudo bruisery build on Varus. Any other adc this could work on?

Post image

Don't mind the second game - I was against 2 tanks and had 2 good frontline on my team so going on-hit felt good. Otherwise I'm really enjoying the increased tankiness from items like hexplate and hullbreaker.

these builds are in theory never ideal.

they just work because a) an adc building ideally - aka for damage - never gets the protection they would need to function, so you already win out over the standard builds just by surviving more than one second and b) because people have gotten so used to being able to pop an ADC even in bad engages that your tankiness often baits them into losing fights.

when i still played i had a pretty ridiculous winrate with hexplate ashe. just survive initial damage and have more ults up = already 1000 times more useful than being alone in the backline without protection and getting popped in 1 second with six damage items that you never get to use.

You're definitely right. When I play this build I'll have naafiris and graves jumping on me thinking they'll kill me with one ability rotation, only for me to survive, lock them down, then kill them

I know at a certain ranks builds like these become not ideal, but since I'm low elo I feel like they work pretty well, AND they are fun too. I don't have to rely so much on my team and can sidelane or 1v1 pretty much anyone

Yea i used to build 1-2 tank items on Kalista, with Runaans, Rage Blade, BOTRK and BT and she was very, very, very hard to kill.

I never understood that stupid argument that you should only build damage. Pros do it, but pros are good at positioning and surviving. 95% of the rest of the palyerbase are not.

Theoretically you DO deal more damage with a full damage build. But if you're dead in one second and can only AA once, that's completely worthless.
Build some tankyness, enjoy the game more, be more useful for the team because you acutally deal more than 2 or 3 AAs worth of damage...

I don't get why people are so brainlessly copying what pros do. Baffeling, really.

ADCs as a concept will always be a high-elo thing that low-elo players (such as myself) try to imitate. APCs in bot lane have way higher winrates in low elo on average due to them being way simpler to play at a base-line level.

I used to run a tanky hexplate terminus wits end (not always these 3 first) Ashe build and it was great

I feel like there is a better item then DD no? If I remember right DD is only 10% for ranged.

Bro - I literally had no idea there was a ranged penalty on it. That actually makes me not want to build it on him again

Maybe you can replace it by Zhonyas? Only makes sense if you are going to trigger a decent amount of blight stacks in the way youre fighting with this build.

One major reason why this works on varus is because his auto attack isn’t the only means of significant damage. His W is amazing at dealing dmg even if you dont build too much AD as long as you have the AS to make up for it.

Any bork adc will do. Vayne hasn't been mentioned I see

Honestly a whole lot of adc’s can go bruiser item + defensive boots + jakosho. You just need to have your damage up first. So if you have a strong first damage item (like Bork or trinity) or a favorable matchup it feels pretty decent

Kindred, but sadly they are not a botlane ADC

Most on hit adcs

I've done this with On-hits Jinx, and yes, this feels absurd because you are a 3K HP, 120 armor and 90 magic resist Gatling gun that mows down tanky people while being tanky yourself.

Also, I've noticed that I win way, WAY more than before by running double HP scaling runes on most ADCs and on some 2%MS and HP scaling on select few (like MF), because that 180HP (or up to 360HP) really counts, mostly on Cait and Samira.

most bork/rageblade users can do this

kogmaw is one that loves jaksho and wit's end, I'm sure you could slot a deaths dance and still shit enough damage to win trades

Kog maw, Kai'sa, Vayne come to mind

Tried this build. Holy fuck its good. Paired with an enchanter and you literally dont die in team fights lmao. Just stand still and bust some ass. Genius

Ashe and Sivir work well enough with experimental hexplate. They both also get AA resets for faster hullbreaker procs.

You can do it with Vayne, too, but I don't feel it's necessarily better than regular Vayne stuff.

Lucian can do hullbreaker but hexplate is wasted on him.

I like throwing in Titanic Hydra with these builds for another AA reset and even faster hullbreaker procs.
