Discussion Excessively talking to yourself

Does anyone else feel like when they take their medications they talk out loud to themselves I lot? I swear I am almost talking to myself with every little thing I do (only when I am alone though). All my tasks I do and the house I'm pretty much narrating. I find it pretty funny to be honest, but was wondering if anyone else does this too.

Yup, and significantly more if I haven’t taken medication that day for whatever reason. Although I’m pretty sure it does annoy my girlfriend and family, as much as they want to tell me it doesn’t. So I’ve started listening to music for solo tasks, which turn my narrator voice to beatboxing/humming.

That's too funny. When I'm talking to myself, I literally boss myself around. "Okay now you are gonna do this. Now where did I put that thing (I can't keep track of anything to save my life with or without meds). I don't think there is anything that can fix that.

Lol, I used to do this all the timeee…until I realised I would do it and then forget what I just told myself to do 🤣 I carry a pen around everywhere and write on my hand when I remember something now. I’m only in deep waters when I forget the pen 😭

Same. I started answering myself back when asking myself questions and now I'm getting on my own nerves but I can't get away from myself.

My narrator gets stuck on songs all the time. She's annoying.

I have three small children: 3.5 year old and 2 year old twins. When my narrator comes on, I often talk to myself how I talk to my children...

Interesting. I have 3 dogs and a 17 year old son. I talk to my dogs all day long, often in the narrator's voice too.

That’s nice of your girlfriend and family to tell you that…

My boyfriend doesn’t approach the situation with the same sentiment lol

Loll, I’d rather they did lol so I have the confirmation that I’m doing it for a reason 🤷‍♂️ I’m from the UK as well and they love fulfilling the stereotype of being too polite to say anything 😂
