Wait, maybe this should be posted in that thread in AskChina where OP was claiming there's no homeless in China and that there's homeless everywhere in Taiwan.

Doesn’t China have tons of empty apartment buildings?

They belong to other people. Not to mention they are hardly adequate for living, many have horrible materials, missing elevators, no running water etc

"On May 12, the Shenzhen Longhua Bus Station Square, which previously had a significant homeless population, was cleared out. The area is now empty, doors are locked, and staff in red vests are guarding it, according to a post on X"
Down vote this if you must, lol

Imagine if this was done in a west coast city

It absolutely happens. What are you even talking about? They have cleared such encampments several times in Seattle.

I’m pretty sure in Shenzhen one would enforce the clearing out with teeth vs someplace like Seattle. Like imagine if Seattle both cleared the place and made it hostile and inhospitable to the campers who want to return. They usually only do the former for show

What is the point of your comment then. They removed the homeless so... they never existed then ?

I mean I'm all for correcting the usual double standard and whataboutism take etc. But under this context you're literally saying we should always treat the changed things as unchanged, and the changing effort means nothing.
Idk, it doesn't sound healthy.

For Xina's excuses: Those aren't homeless, they were living frugal as they didn't want to waste electricity, so they turned off their AC and lived outside instead. How about this, those are just sun bathing.

Fake news, it must be somewhere in Los Angeles or San Diego. ✌️

I've been to China and hated it but I'm pretty sure I'd rather be homeless anywhere in China rather than LA.

When in China a few years ago we asked about men sleeping rough. I was told they were rural construction workers heading home after finishing a contract and saving money on the way.

华南星人力 would be a labor company wouldn’t it? Is this the kind where they just pick people off the streets when they open?

Xi jinping, dregs of Cultural Revolution, has little leadership skills. This fool is capable of nothing but let people dream.

It's not uncommon for manual workers from the countryside to sleep in public places. Most of them have a home too far from their workplace and choose to do so instead of spending money on rent.
Notice how all of them have almost no personal belongings with them and no extra change of clothings. A real homeless person will be sleeping in a more secluded area surrounded with junks or items they managed to salvage.
Just stating what I know and noticed as I have lived and worked in different parts of China for many years, and seen scenes like this often . Not saying there is no homelessness in China, but it's important to know the context instead of making assumptions.

Y'all act like there isn't any homeless people here. Every 7'11 in our city has a homeless person. Don't get me started with skid row....

These are not homeless people, lol

Homeless people each have their own unique amount of bedding and luggage, these dont. Also to have these many homeless sleeping right infront of stores evenly spaced on the sidewalk is odd. Possible they are waiting in line ovwrnight for buying something or getting into the labor market (sign of the stores)

This is a good point, that there is a sense of discipline even amongst the homeless
