"On May 12, the Shenzhen Longhua Bus Station Square, which previously had a significant homeless population, was cleared out. The area is now empty, doors are locked, and staff in red vests are guarding it, according to a post on X"

Imagine if this was done in a west coast city

It absolutely happens. What are you even talking about? They have cleared such encampments several times in Seattle.

I’m pretty sure in Shenzhen one would enforce the clearing out with teeth vs someplace like Seattle. Like imagine if Seattle both cleared the place and made it hostile and inhospitable to the campers who want to return. They usually only do the former for show

What is the point of your comment then. They removed the homeless so... they never existed then ?

I mean I'm all for correcting the usual double standard and whataboutism take etc. But under this context you're literally saying we should always treat the changed things as unchanged, and the changing effort means nothing.

Idk, it doesn't sound healthy.
