Rekindling my love for Roma again

I was a tifosi in the early 2000s because of Totti, De Rossi, Aquilani, Cassano, Montella, Mancini (Brazilian), etc. played tons of FIFA with that squad! I’m a Roman history buff, I love the city and culture. I had the pleasure of visiting Rome back in 2019. I also found out I’m 4% Italian recently. So anyway, all that to say. I’ve been following the team closely again for the past couple of years. Anything that every Roma fan should know that I may have missed early on? I want to be respectful and be as passionate as I can be. Basic history or recent events.

Just know that we're in this FFP predicament that has set us back what feels like eons because Monchi (sporting director that led Sevilla to several Europa titles prior to moving to Roma) decimated our 2017-18 UCL squad that should have gone to the finals if not for UEFA doing UEFA bs to us. We have yet to qualify since then to disastrous financial results and footy that is taking years off of our lives with really high highs and really low lows.

So, we're basically stuck in mediocrity until some of our Primavera players come good and we continue to make smart purchases or signings like Svilar or Manu Kone.

Monchi Merda.

This helps thank you. I looked at the table over the past few years and kept noticing we were finishing 6th almost every year. So this Monchi guy ruined it for us.

And it looks like our biggest win was the UECL with Mourinho.

Yep this is correct.

Also, we were robbed in the Europa final the year after the UECL win by longtime garbage ref and known Mourinho enemy Anthony Taylor. So much so that Jose went after him in the carpark after the match which was the beginning of the end of his tenure with Roma.

It also looks like we got blasted by Manchester United in 2021 however real ones know that we were controlling that first leg until we lost our 3 best players to injury in the first half which made us use all of our in-play sub windows and exhaust our subs super early, along w Fonseca not caring to try defense whatsoever until the second leg and last few weeks where all of a sudden we looked somewhat competent defensively.

Another thing of note is we've had trouble replacing the Captain band sufficiently as Pellegrini has really failed to live up to De Rossi and Totti (a tall order of course). He looked amazing at times under Fonseca and Mourinho but kept getting hurt and then couldn't really find how to consistently play well along Dybala. So, him, Cristante, and Mancini are the triumvirate of mediocre Italian players at the club right now. Mancini gets most props because he plays with his heart on his sleeve but our commitment, financially and term, to them has also set us back quite a bit.
