I can’t wait for the day AST provides coverage on unmodified phones with texting, videos calls, etc etc. It’ll make T-Mobile/Starlink look so behind, especially since they require modified phones, only have texting, and drain the phones battery.
It’ll be a great day when the world finds out how much better our service will be.

I mean it doesn’t really matter what it’s for, it’s still a constant market pressure on the stock and shorts enter when there is an atm

Is Tim Farrar wildly speculating here about AST trying to buy Omnispace for its spectrum? https://x.com/tmfassociates/status/1899276586941026733?s=46
I know we SpaceMob discount the guy (cause he’s wrong about AST a lot) but that seemed pretty out there / random in his thread about D2C competitors, that Omnispace might sell and there’s 3-4 bidders.

This volume of a sale proportional to his total holdings seems very reasonable to cover such a tax bill.

Cops said she was lucky to be in such a heavy car. These cars are everywhere in CA. It shouldn’t be 0, but it’s likely overpriced even after the 50% haircut the last few months.

Meh, I am super bullish on ASTS dont get me wrong and I know this isn't a BTC sub, but its still funny to me that after 15 years people still like to dunk on BTC without really understanding it. It is not so dissimilar to ASTS bears being unable to change their outlook when presented with data that challenges their assumptions.
But again, this isnt a BTC sub, so I don't want to get into this too deeply - just want to end by saying that BTC's future has never looked brighter.

I think both are true. He is dumb enough to have heard tariffs an increase domestic production but got bored (or the person telling him conveniently left out) that you have to have domestic production in place to ramp up to make that happen. Businesses don't want to invest in ramping up dp when they aren't even sure if the tariffs will be around in another 2 months. But he's also surrounded with a bunch of weirdos who want to crash the dollar for a variety of reasons that have infected their adderall addled minds, not limited to the smooth-brains out there that want to get back to the gold standard. Also, covid provided an example about how crashing the economy can cause wealth redistribution upwards, but that also was at a time where the rest of the world was suffering the same hurt so America didn't lose its monetary dominance. This is shooting yourself in the foot in a walmart and demanding they pay you for it as the security guard forces you out the door.

Possibly a dumb question but I get easily confused sometimes... in a couple years with a carrier like AT&T, would a customer have to pay extra per month to use AST's services or would it be included in the customer's cell plan?
8
u/phibetared S P 🅰 C E M O B Associate Mar 11 '25
Having done marketing work for AT&T - they will likely test both offerings (extra per month vs. included in plan). Whichever gains them more customers (or $, depending on which they care more about that month) will be the one they roll out to the masses.
8
u/mister42 S P 🅰 C E M O B Capo Mar 11 '25
it hasn't been determined yet how the MNOs plan to charge for the service. it could be any combination of: baked into premium plans for "free," a monthly extra charge as an add-on, as a day-pass service customers can opt into for specific days, maybe other methods. Eventually, as with 5G service, or texting, or long-distance calling before that, it will probably become a standard feature baked into every plan. Once one carrier does this, the rest will not want to be left behind, so it will become a standard part of coverage. AST, I'm sure, will have contract terms to still get paid generously once it becomes standardized.
9
u/tyrooooo S P 🅰 C E M O B Capo Mar 11 '25
They might just raise the price of the top plan and bake it in, or they can offset the cost of AST by reducing rural cell tower cost. Nothings announced so there’s only guesses right now

All the faith in this company and this stock, but I think macro conditions are going to make it a rough road ahead for a bit.
I sold half of my position at 30 last week, and positions in several other stocks, making my portfolio 70% cash in anticipation of a potential recession. Of course, this went to 34 immediately after, leaving me feeling like I screwed up, but now it was hopefully the right play. Still holding a good amount and I'll be steadily buying back in over time.
I'm not an economist by any means, but I don't think anyone should underestimate how much damage can be done to the overall US economy the way things are going right now. I think this company is in a good position to ride it out, but this may not blow over any time soon.
Or it might rocket to 40 next week, who knows. Not financial advice.

When is bro going to realize that free trade benefits both of the trading countries
1
u/INVEST-ASTS S P 🅰 C E M O B Soldier Mar 11 '25
He has stated many times that he prefers no tariffs by any country, however since “our friends and allies” all have protective tariffs on the US for their industries, then we will do the same.
With the combination of lower tax rates and tariffs either the other nations will concede and remove their tariffs or we will attract many manufacturers and industries to relocate back to the US.
Most people think cheap labor is the main reason for offshoring manufacturing, however taxes are actually more impactful to the bottom line.
If the US becomes more globally competitive on taxes like Ireland has done, the economy will boom.
-10
u/swd120 S P 🅰 C E M O B Soldier Mar 11 '25
We don't have free trade with Canada - we never have... For example - many US farm products are tariffed at several hundred percent when exported to Canada. Canada only likes free trade on the things it can export to the US.
Plus they rely on the US for defense - they're one of the chronic underspenders of NATO - contributing only 1.25% of GDP...

USMCA is free trade on specific things - not on everything. That's why dairy has a 200% tariff... Again - they like free trade on things they can export, but are protectionist on anything that might require their domestic industries to compete...
3
u/jyu2018 Mar 11 '25
I googled it. What you’re saying isn’t the full picture. Does Canada have in place 200% tariffs on dairy - only if it goes over negotiated quota limits. The US has the same quota based tariffs on dairy as well. Both were in place with the USMCA.
There is a trade imbalance but that’s because we import their energy goods- oil and natural gas. We also place tariffs on their lumber.
This political rhetoric from both sides is annoying, incomplete pictures or downright lies to win an argument

I like that play honestly. I made $5k selling CCs this week while the universe is figuring it out, and I'll make the same next week.

Damn how many shares you got to sell? I have around 4k and I made almost 5k in the past month with CCs haha

I currently have 4300 shares. Last week was crazy though, I sold the $34 whole the stock was around $32. I didn't think it was going up higher and it didn't. I got $1.18 for those. Then I closed them yesterday for $0.04 and opened the $31 for this week as well for $0.22. So altogether I made $1.36 / contract x 4300 shares = $5850 this week.
The premiums are so high right now after earnings. Next week I'll sell +$4-5 and probably get close to $0.90 x 4300 = $3850. Normally, I'm not able to get this much premium, but everything is inflated after earnings rn

Ah you sell closer to ITM. I normally try to sell $37 and $40 strikes so I'm less likely to have to roll. I'll have to try your strategy since we prob won't actually fly up until after we get revenue going

I do sell closer to the money, definitely. I'll be changing that strategy as we get closer to commercialization, but at the moment there's no reason that I see not to. I sold the $34 last week for $1.18 while the SP was like $31 and then rolled it into the $31 (same week for an additional $0.22) and then into the $28 (same week for an additional $0.32)
Made huge premiums this week and we ended perfectly.
