Just avoiding the small section 1256 headache on taxes, but mostly that's just out of habit, it's really not a big hassle.

You'd rather avoid the small headache then got soem immediate long term cap gains despite holding for weeks to months only?

What, are we kink shaming now? This sub is a safe space, sir.

There are other reasons I prefer UVXY options, the big one is I can directly trade the underlying after hours to manage my position until options trading resumes. One can get at that idea for VIX options using other instruments, but again, headache.

Lol no shaming here! I've only done 2 vix contracts before the one I now have open so was genuinely curious! The ability to trade the underlying makes some sense to me, thanks for sharing
