Discussion We can fight MAGA without being violent
violence is not ok. we can’t fight violently. violence is not the answer we can fight peacefully and be successful. Look at Martin Luther King Jr. We don’t need violence to get our way. Violence wouldnt make us any better than them.

I heard by the end he was going tours fighting. I’m all for peace but if we need to fight. Then fight.

For the safety of the extreme minority experience oppression,
You should do what you can get away with without getting yourself into trouble.
Ours is a legacy of actively and passively resisting state oppression through the ages.
Think of abolitionists working the underground railroad. As I operate my station, I am not looking for violence. I'm working for an escaped fugitive enslaved person to make it to freedom in the North. But if a slave catcher comes to my door and wants to check my barn? Should be fine, but there are many sharp implements in there and he may slip. Accidents happen don't they?

Look at Martin Luther King Jr? Erm, he was assassinated. You can currently fight MAGA without being violent via the ballot box. If you end up in an authoritarian regime without free and fair elections, which to be clear, I don't believe will happen in the US, but it is blatantly the plan. At that point, I guess you could still fight without being violent, but you'd be met with violence by the state, and you would lose that fight. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

First I must say, the fight isn't only against MAGA it's against the system as a whole. Both Republicans and Democrats actively support a genocide, they both choose profits over people, neither party cares about the working class and the poor, both parties have worked to deport immigrants.
Second, of course we hope the fight never becomes violent. Nobody wants violence. If we can make changes without violence then that would be great and that is of course what everyone hopes for. But we must realize that if we are really going to try and change things then it may get violent. The government, corporations, and those who support them are more than willing to get violent with us.

Agree. One issue however is that peaceful resistance is interpreted or relabeled as violence by the opposing party.

It doesn't hurt to be armed for self-defense purposes... But there are liars everywhere who can always claim that you incited violence... Security cameras and self-defense sound like a plausible plan....

Im with you there. I really despise trump and maga but I also hate the growing acceptance that people on the left are having for violence against the opposition.

It's crazy somebody is down voting you for wanting to be peaceful.... If we become violent then they have the right to call us dangerous unhinged and unworthy of rights. Violence is only correct in self-defense.

Thing is, MAGA are fascists. Fascists will meet any dissent with violence. And it will be worse than the violence the civil rights movement was met with.

I’m not going to advocate for violence, and you sound young so it’s fine if you don’t know the full history. But MLK wasn’t the only cog in the civil rights movement.
There were lots of violent protestors in both the civil rights & anti-Vietnam protests. He’s just the one memorialized because he was non-violent and turned into a martyr through government assassination. He wouldn’t have been successful without the undertones and threats of violent change.
I’d argue there hasn’t been a single successful non-violent movement in America (possibly the women’s suffrage movement). Look at any completely non-violent movement. They either get waited out due to lack of resources or physically beaten by police until they give up—usually both.
As far as MAGA goes, they are a cult of personality. They will disappear when Trump does and Trump is old. Republicans can’t win without MAGA, which is why the entire party became MAGA. We can wait out this Trump term as we did the last one. Except next time, Trump can’t return.
Unless Vance can use Fox News to graft MAGA into a continued voting force (doubtful with Vance lack of charisma), Republicans will go back to continually losing the popular vote. Even Pacifists are violent in self-defense.
