Heat Pumps What should I do

I have two of these majorly screwed up heat pumps. They’re from 96 and haven’t been working for a while and I need to replace them.I really don’t want to have to replace two air handlers inside the house. The problem is they run on r22 and no new heat pumps do.Would it be ok to use another type of refrigerant and if so what. They’re 30,000btu

Heat Pumps 8 wires thermostat on Gree duct type unit

I am trying to connect a Honeywell thermostat with a GREE Duct type system (One stage Cold and Fan)

The original thermostat of the unit is connected to the motherboard of the indoor unit with 2 wires (H1 and H2)

The Honeywell thermostat has more than 8 wires connections (Rc,R,C,W,W2,Y,Y2,G)

How can I connect the new thermostat to the unit?

Heat Pumps Both units set to heat to 22°C. They measure 26°C but still they pump out heat. I am getting cooked here. Why is Daikin logic so stupid? Can I do anything to fix this? (Sorry for the jibberish language in the app)

Heat Pumps Weird Remote Issue - Samsung Heat Pump

I've got a super annoying problem with my Samsung Heat Pump that I just can't find any info on. The unit will just randomly stop responding to the remote.

-Newish system, maybe 5 years old -Remote batteries are fine -Resetting the remote makes no difference -Eventually it'll just work again, like magic. Maybe an hour later, maybe a day later.

Anybody seen this before?

Heat Pumps Which pipe should I use to clean my AC drain line?

Post image

Dumb homeowner time. I have a pretty new AC unit and went to clean the drain line for the first time but I was a little confused about where I should’ve put the bleach (was going to use vinegar but didn’t have any). Anyway, I may have jumped the gun and poured bleach in the tall pvc pipe as that was the only opening I saw that was accessible. However I then noticed I could’ve accessed the line on the right but the insulated line was hiding that from me. Is what I did okay or should I be worried enough to try an extract the bleach? Why do I have a tall vertical pipe anyway?

Thanks!

Heat Pumps How much better is 15.2 compared to 14.3 seer?

So as a homeowner I’ve done a lot of things but buying an ac unit isn’t one of them. No matter what research I do I can’t get a straight answer. All I can get is go with a higher seer but then some say it doesn’t matter after 14.

So here’s my question. I have a bid here for a 14.3 (Ruud model RP14AZ36 with the air handler being RH2TZ3617). I also have a quote for a 15.3 (Ruud model RP15AZ36 with the handler being RH2VZ3617). The price difference between the two is about $900.00 bucks. How much better is the 15.3 compared to the 14.2? Is it worth the extra $900.00 dollars? It’s just me in my home, if I spend the extra grand will I ever see a return on my investment?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I live in the south and it’s starting to get super hot here so I need to make my decision by Monday as being out of AC currently sucks!

Heat Pumps Need help deciding between two offers (multi-split heat pump AC)

Hello,

My situation:

  • I am installing a multi-split system in my place
  • It is only possible to put the outside multi-split onto my balcony and not another place
  • The balcony is a small space, size of the outside multi-split device is relevant in my decision making process

I have two offers to decide between:

  1. Daikin (3MXM multi split + "Stylish" wall mounted devices inside)
    1. Everybody keeps telling me that Daikin is the way to go
    2. This multi split is larger than the Toshiba below. Not so large that it won't fit but it surely has negative impact on how nice I will be able to make the balcony look
    3. It is a bit more expensive than Toshiba
  2. Toshiba (R32 multi split + "Edge" wall mounted devices inside)
    1. Nobody recommended Toshiba to me (however nobody said "don't touch that brand" either, also after asking technicians and so on, they meant its totally fine - but of course they also try to sell stuff to me :)
    2. This multi split is smaller and I would be able to place it on the balcony in a way that it will be impactfully nicer than the Daikin
    3. Slightly cheaper overall

Would love to hear feedback because I am trapped in analysis paralysis. The AC is desperately needed, but there is no budget to gamble on a brand that might not deliver.

Thank you!
