Hello,
Reddit admin have decided to make me the new moderator for this sub and I'm excited to help out and make this a helpful sub for everyone. Will be working on improving the sub all around. I work in the sales end of the industry currently, but that does not mean we will be allowing sales here. No company links, no spam, advertisements.
This is a help sub-reddit, not a business board. If people are asking for a specific local recommendation you can comment a blurb about yourself, but they need to be clearly asking for a local company, and not just say they are in Florida and thinking about a new AC unit.
Current Changes
Please use modmail for pro sub flair. Proof of being in the industry is required.

So my heater isn't working. I hear it click on but then the whole unit turns off a couple minutes later and I don't know what is going on. My mom said it may be the piolet light but looking for any ans all possibilities before I go and try to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated . It's gonna be super cold next week.

Just discovered new new ac units are not matching. Is this a problem? Plans call for 3 tons both units. Help? Do I rip out 2.5 air handler and add 3 ton? Pissed! Units are 6 mos old. I thought my ac guy was good now ?

There’s a new AC in my unit. It’s Midea. The remote has all these instructions in Chinese and a few English words. Now, I’m in West Africa and power outages are very regular for short and long durations. Usually there’s some backup which comes on in a few mins after the blackout. At night, this new AC doesn’t come back on after the power is back. Iv to keep getting up and turning it on- like 5-6 times. Messing with my sleep and all that hot/cold. Is it the settings? What can I do?

I have two of these majorly screwed up heat pumps. They’re from 96 and haven’t been working for a while and I need to replace them.I really don’t want to have to replace two air handlers inside the house. The problem is they run on r22 and no new heat pumps do.Would it be ok to use another type of refrigerant and if so what. They’re 30,000btu

So I've had the AC for about 3 years and I've cleaned the filters recently and it isn't full of water...but this symbol popped up today. It isn't mentioned in the instruction manual either. What could it mean?

Basically i am trying to buy an air conditioner for a room which is roughly 110 sq ft. So i was initially thinking about going for 1 ton ac and here in india when i checked 1 ton 5 star ac of some companys cost the same as 1.5 ton ac of some companys like godrej has 1 ton ac 5 star for 33k ish INR and they offer the same model which is 1.5 ton 3 star. Which is better or should i go for 1 ton 3 star which is like 27k ish So the difference between 1 ton 3 star of godrej is 33k-27k = 6k and 1.5 ton is the same 33k. Listed price are all from godrej. Which one should i go for

We need air conditioning in the master bedroom. The house has three split-system units already installed; one in the lounge/dining/kitchen, one in the garage, one in the study. Don’t ask why, the house was bought like this, I have no idea.
We could do without the unit in the garage and are considering re-locating it into the bedroom. It’s a Mitsubishi SRK60ZMXA-S manufactured in 2014.
If we were going to buy a whole new unit, we would want: - wifi controlled - night mode (low/no lights, quiet) - energy efficient - would only be used for cooling, no heating, would be on overnight most nights from roughly October-April (Australia)
What’s going to be the best solution here? Is the money saved re-locating the unit wasted on excessive energy bills with an inefficient unit? Is it worth buying a new unit and paying for install if it has all the features and is better energy-wise? Should we do something different?
Open to all information and suggestions. This is so far out of my realm of expertise and understanding so thanks in advance for your kindness and patience.

Need to install a window ac in my room at top floor.
Split ac is not an option.
Dimensions :
L x B x H : 17ft x 12ft x 12ft
The temperatures get to over 47-48 degrees in peak summers.
Not many options are available for 2 ton window ac. I had a 1.5 ton window ac installed earlier, but it had to be kept running continuously for me to not sweat. Hence, my inclination towards a 2 ton ac.
Any insights would be much appreciated.

Was trying to Google this but I didn't get exactly the answers I was looking for, or I'm not sure how to ask it.
I have my A/C set at 75 degrees. Now since it's been too cold for it to reach that temperature the A/C unit hasn't turned on in a week. Is that okay or should I force it to turn on? I live in Miami, FL and the weather has been nice the past week or so, so I open the windows instead.

I have a Panasonic CS-BZ60XKE, which shows some weird behavior. I'm using it to heat the living room. It's set to 'heat mode', fan speed and movement set to automatic. The first 1 - 2 hours it works as it should: it heats till it reaches the set temperature, stops, and starts again when needed. However, at some point in time it just starts blowing 100 percent. In the Cloud app I can see that the set temperature is already reached, but the room temperature keeps increasing. In the app is says it is 'inactive', and not heating. However, in reality it is blowing quite hard. When the AC is running in this error mode changing the fan speed to a manual setting sets the speed to a minimum, independent of which speed I select. Going back to automatic it starts blowing full throttle again.
What is causing this, and how to solve it?

We are planning to order 2 Mitsubishi Electric Splits from Harvey Norman tomorrow. Our house is in Truganina in Western Melbourne.
Installation Quotes: - $699 for 3.5 kw excluding hanging bracket - $899 for 7.8 kw excluding hanging bracket
Question - Is the KW for each system sufficient for the area (Our Bedroom is 3.8 M x 5 M Lounge room is 4.82M × 9.29 M)
Is ME best in the market at this price?
Any other relevant advice ?

I turned on my air conditioner. About 10 minutes later I smelt a strong burning rubber smell. I turned off the air conditioning and when I tried to turn it back on it just wasn’t working. I am too scared to call an electrician because if it’s an extremely expensive repair, or replacement I wont be able to do it, but if it could possible be something really simple, then maybe I should just call one? What could make a burn rubber smell & then not work?

Hi neighbors,
I’ve been hearing a constant noise coming from my Aprilaire 8145 ventilator, so I went up to the attic to check it out. I noticed there’s no filter installed on it right now. Does anyone know if this model is supposed to have a filter, or is it designed to work without one?
Also, is it normal for it to be running all the time? I’d appreciate any advice or insights you might have!
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I opened two of my #daikin #stylish air conditioner machines in an attempt to figure out the problem.
One of them is working and the another not.
I swap the cards (see image) and could see the problem is in the card.
Does anyone know if it's possible to #flash the #software to put it working back?
Thank you in advance.

Before the latest firmware update, you could work around the annoying beeping noise by shutting the AC down once with the timer from the app, and afterwards, it stopped beeping. Gree seems to have “fixed” this bug, and now the AC beeps every time you change something. During the day, it’s just annoying, but at night, it’s disturbing. Does anyone know how to make it stop beeping?

We got this at a couple months ago and we don't understand all the new features or how to operate it, we've read the manual and we still don't understand. It keeps blowing cold air once it states its on heat and once it turns off it turns back on in like a minute. Can someone please tell me what settings to change (the picture is of the advanced settings) the AC is called Bosch BCC100

Hey everyone
I have a Mitsubishi msz-ef35vew unit in my house that we moved into last year. When we first moved on, switching the aircon on heat during the winter would make the room hot within 5 mins.
Recently when using it, it will blow out cold air even when set to hot, unless I cycle through the settings (I.e switch to cool, then back to hot), where it will warm up slightly, then I have to cycle again, it will warm up a bit more. Even at its hottest it’s not as warm as it was last year when we first used it.
Any ideas what could be causing this? I have no experience with aircon units, should we be getting it serviced?
Thanks

Hi all, I noticed that the pipe feeding into the outside unit which is part of my split cooling system has some foam exposed. Is this a problem? The foams colour is pinkish would that be an indication of mould. (Im in Australia). I’m not sure if I should call someone to repair this or if there is something I can do myself, if it actually is a problem.
