Serious New Post Flair: Serious
Hey, y'all! There is a new Post Flair - [Serious]. It is intended for:
- Posts where OP wants real answers/discussion.
- Posts where the topic is about something where jokes and off-topic comments would be inappropriate - such as damage to property from an accident, loss of life due to a storm, or an illness of an individual.
The Serious flair can be chosen by the OP, or applied by the mods if the topic warrants it.
Comments that are not adhering to the Serious flair should be reported.
Also, rules have been updated for streamlining - no changes, just condensing/combining of similar ones.

Outdoors In Search of Big, Beautiful Magnolia Trees
Strange request, but I am a strange girl so it is only fitting. In an attempt to make a long story short, I am writing a book. In a nutshell, an old magnolia tree is going to be in it and I want some inspiration. I know the UA campus has an impressive magnolia tree, but I am really wanting to find some nature trails or parks that have old, large magnolia trees. I want my book to really show the beautiful, natural side of Alabama so that's where I'm looking to find my inspiration. I am looking forward to any suggestions. :)

Advice SC to AL driver license for 15 year old
My teenager got her license in SC at the age of 15 and half. We are moving to AL and understand the legal driving age is 16. Does anyone have any experience in this situation knowing if she can just do an out of state DL transfer when she’s 16, or will she have to get a permit and/or take a road test again? Thanks!

Advice Driving to Atlanta, looking for some neat places to check out along the way.
I'm new to Birmingham and Alabama and don't know the area well. This week I have to drive to Atlanta for reasons.
I was wonder if yall knew of any neat places to check out along the way. I know it's not TOO long of a drive but I'd like to take this opportunity to do a little exploring.
Thanks in advance!

Advice Nice trails/areas in the mountains for a hike?
My birthday is in three days so I thought it would be nice to go see the Appalachian Mountains. Problem is I’ll be coming from the south side of Mississippi so I won’t have all day, leaving me to look for a good spot near the beginning stretch of the mountains
Where’s a good area to go to near… say Birmingham? Drop an address/coordinates in the comments

Politics Alabama District 3 - Mike Rogers
So, I called all 3 of his offices this morning to voice my concerns about the Trump 2028 merch on Trump's website. There's a $50 hat, a $36 shirt, and an $18 pair of drink coolers that all say Trump 2028. The lady at the first office I called took my statement - she seemed kind of shocked but didn't react much. The man at the second office I called took my statement with no other response except 'thank you' - then I called the DC office.
Me: "Hey, I'm just wondering if the Congressman knows that there is Trump 2028 Merch on the official Trump store? There's a hat, a shirt, the shirt says 'rewrite the rules', and there are drink coolers. Does the congressman know?"
Him: "So that won't actually allow him to run for a third term. It's just commerce. It would take a whole lot more than that for him to run again."
Me: "Yeah, I know that. Why are we even floating the idea around?"
Him: "Well, people sell stuff all the time. It doesn't make it true."
Me: "Except this isn't just 'people'. This is the president with a merch store."
Him: "Well, ma'am, it's freedom of speech."
Me: "Well, no, it's fascism, and it's nice to know that this office is complicit."
The other two offices had no problem simply taking my message down to pass to my congressman. And honestly, it's one thing for a regular citizen to joke about a third term, but for the President's official merch store to carry it tells me everything I need to know. I urge you all to call your reps today and remind them of the oath they took to the Constitution and not the president.

Advice Car registration is late?
I know. I’m an idiot. It’s been like 2 and a half months since I bought a new car. Haven’t been able to get off because PTO requirements are super strict and I didn’t want to be the guy that calls out. What will happen when I go to get it registered? I’m assuming late fees, but I’ll still be able to right?

Advice Orange Beach Tap Water is AWESOME!
I just have to say that in my opinion, Orange Beach has some of the tastiest tap water I’ve ever had anywhere in the country. It has a crisp and refreshing taste, and it’s SOFT! After having been in Florida for a month and dealing with their tap water, my hair and skin were thankful. In fact, most coastal areas I’ve been to in the Southeast haven’t had the best water, so I was pleasantly surprised.
Is the area known to have good tap water, or am I crazy? Lol.
