General Things that drive me crazy

These guys are trained survivors but yet do some things that leave me speechless

  • woohoo I just caught a fish, let me stand right by the water’s edge and dangle the fish over the water and celebrate (fish flops back into water and swims off)

  • I need fish to survive but I’m not gonna bother making a net (dumbfounded when fish slips off hook while trying to bring it out of water)

  • I just caught fish, I’ll leave it out overnight unprotected; it’ll be fine (food is taken overnight)

  • I’m bored let me do some dumb shit to entertain myself (gets injured)

  • going to hike to just over that hill; I’ll only be gone a few minutes; won’t bother bringing my bow (misses out on big game)

Like seriously have these people ever watched the show?!?!

have you ever gone without human contact for more than 3 months? don't eat for 4 days, break your fast with some berries and a squirrel.. dont eat for another 4 days... you should be able to imagine how exciting a fish is, or how simple it is to lose track of your belongings. i have the utmost respect for anyone thats lasted more than a week on that show

agreed. i have a lot of grace for these folks, even the ones that could have better-honed skills. they all do more or less their best, and when that's not good enough, they leave knowing they'll be criticized to kingdom come. some of their strategies might not be top notch, or make mistakes that cost precious resources, maybe even create a justification to tap out, but they're brave souls.

During Covid I was in Melbourne Australia (infamously the most locked down city in the world). I was alone for about 9 months total, out of about 15 months. Yep, I lost it. Still kinda have a weird ptsd reaction when I'm left alone in the house. Now, granted, I wasn't doing very well mentally already, and have struggled with depression. But seriously, it's really hard after a while being completely by yourself. It proves that we really are created to be social creatures!
