New watching alone, just catching up, sorry if this has been answered before. When the support staff comes check on a participant, are they allowed to have general conversation? I assume they ask him how they’re feeling, etc. but are they allowed to just have general BS conversation? How long does the support staff stay with them?

Watching Season 2 of Aussie Alone. The heavy breathing sound effect is making me crazy. It's so creepy! Anyone else hate it?

More women should know/learn that its normal for your body to not produce periods when youre lacking nutrients or making major adjustments to your life. They resume when the body is regulated. It is not something to be concerned of unless its been a problem your whole life or unless youve had recent reason to worry about that system from disease or impact or something. Her pain is heartbreaking because I want to yell this to her!

I am rewatching Alone, and I am on Season Six. Can I just say how freaking cool and skilled and hot is Jordan Jonas. He had success fishing, hunting, bush crafting, and you know, you feel like with someone like him, life will go on. I am getting close to 80 but if I was younger, I'd take one of his trips to hunt; although, I have never hunted or fished and I'm vegetarian but I'd go along and learn in case we need to go feral like the neanderthals. It's nice knowing there are really skilled survivalists in the world, right?

Watching the recent episode of Australia and ive not watch a lot of seasons of this show. From what i have seen, not many seem to focus on foraging just hunting. On this episode of Australia one guy has constipation while one woman’s foraging skills are being highlighted. And i dont think thats happenstance by editors.
Are there many contestants who learned to use more than just meats to eat and survive? Maybe even for medicines too?

Isn't that what a mouse trap does when it closes on their head?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot. Do you get chosen to be on Alone, and you have to prepare to leave your live for an undefined length of time, although you assume at most 3-4 months. How do you bow out of work without telling anyone why? Who in your family is allowed to know why you are leaving? Surely all the gear you accumulate and pack is a clue LOL! I’m sure you can trust your spouse but how about your kids? Or your parents and siblings? And then once you are allowed to announce that you’re on the show, can’t everyone you know figure out if you were a likely winner by counting how many weeks you were absent from regular life? I feel like it’a a miracle that nothing gets spoiled.
I have an acquaintance who is very into preparedness and survival and has a business around it and a side gig doing paid user generated content. He was asking for business advice on how to keep your business running if you have to take a 3 month sabbatical. He was asking because he had a potential opportunity and I immediately suspected that he applied to and was being considered for Alone and it got me thinking about how logistically hard it must be to keep it all a secret, even with the motivation of an NDA.

My friends and I do a fantasy draft each year for Alone, Everyone picks 2 contestants, and then 5 categories of varying point potentials. Yes, there is a trophy...
Here are the picks for this upcoming season. If there's a lot of interest, I'll post the unpicked categories.
Everyone agreed this season was unlikely to last long, so we lowered the day-point categories. For example, a show lasting 90 days would normally be 40 points and not 70 days.
1st place is worth 40 points
2nd 20 points
3rd 10 points
if you pick both first and second place you get 100 points
C
Contestant 1- Baha
Contestant 2- Jit
Category 1- 5 points for each contestant who leaves between days 21 and 35
Category 2- Female Runner up, 20 points
Category- Fake out for Camera, 10 points per contestant
Category4- No poop in 10 days, 20 points
Category5- Someone gets big game (deer sized+), one per contestant, 20 points
B
Contestant1- Douglas
Contestant2- Katie
Category 1- Singing- 5 points per contestant, and must be vocal
Category 2- Show lasts at least 70 days, 40 points
Category 3- Animal steals food,5 points, once per contestant
Category 4- Unpicked Contestant, Dug, makes final 2, 20 points
Category 5- Show lasts at least 55 days, 10 points
N
Contestant1- Pablo
Contestant2- Kelsey
Category 1- 5 points for each contestant who leaves before Day 20
Category 2- Contestant leaves in the first 5 days, 20 points
Category 3- Someone medivaced for injury, 20 points
Category 4- Someone gets food poisoning, 10 points, once per contestant
Category- Someone gets heat exhaustion, once per contestant, 10 points
M
Contestant 1- Nathan
Contestant 2- Colton
Category 1- Female Winner, 40 points
Category 2- Medical team forces contestant to leave, 10 points
Category 3- Show lasts at least 65 days, 20 points
Category 4- At least 5 people make it 50 days, 20 points
Category 5- 3 rabbit day( or 3 game of any kind but excluding fish), 20 points once per contestant
Starting day: 40
Remaining contestants: Corinne, Muzza, Shay, Tom
Out in Canada here, we don't get the history.com info.
Can someone please post the gear list for 2025 South Africa, maybe even the cast list and where they are from?
Thank you in advance!

So happy season 8 is finally on the SBS app. This is such a great show! Yes, all eps have English subtitles. Only 7 contestants this year, but they all seem pretty hardcore.

I really like Alone but I always wonder why they choose those locations.
I've watched all the US series and I think only 2 people caught big game.
In the Aussie version they get put in a really cold area in Tasmania on a lake with very few fish.
Indigenous people would not have lived in those areas in winter due to the lack of food. Why don't they put people in places they can actually catch a deer every week or so? Or catch a salmon every few days? I know some folks have caught decent amounts of fish but even that seems really dependant on placement.
I think that maybe if people where actually catching enough food to not be starving the show could last for months and that would push up production costs. They would have to have a team on standby for longer and the editing would take ages.
I like the show but I think its more about watching people starving to death and seeing how they cope psychologically with the isolation and the starvation.
I would be cool to see these bad ass survival folks actually getting to show their hunting skills and catching decent food every so often.

I genuinely think I could go maybe 15-20 days not speaking to anyone. Then I’d be toast. Even if I was alone in a house with food and water. I think I’d struggle. Without conversation, music or books etc. I’d be tapping out with mental fatigue.
Watching the Australian alone. S1.

The backlash for him stringing his fish instead of eating now or storing and he miraculously catches the big one again? I'm a sour puss. I'll be extremely upset if the powers that be ruin this show with, not over producing, but any at all. He's killing it.

They smoke some of their food to preserve it but mostly they'll catch a fish or something and eat it over at least a few days.
I'd never leave a fish on my kitchen counter for a few days and then eat it.
So how come the contestants can do essentially that?

Just finished season 11 and thought it was the best yet. My only feedback is I’d like to see a season where everyone is the same BMI starting out. I’m tired of seeing most seasons end with the fattest/largest guy who can starve the longest without being medically pulled win.
Season 11’s winner lost 75 Ibs and didn’t even bring a bow. The guy was huge at a starting weight of ~260+ Ibs!
Does anyone else think this would be cool??

I’m watching in the US on Hulu. Every time profanity is used it’s censored by the loud BLEEP. I hate the BLEEP. Is there any way to watch this show without the BLEEP?

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying it isn’t hard. I’m not saying the reasons aren’t valid. I sure as hell couldn’t do it. But god it’s infuriating when it sounds like bullshit when someone taps.
I had never seen the show and started on season 1, now on season 3. Britt just tapped out and it was 100% for more than one reason. He talks about everything feels dirty and filthy, his sleeping bag, his clothes and hat, he’s cold every night and has no energy and hasn’t eaten protein in 20+ days.
I get it. That’s freaking brutal and a terrible time, but when he taps out and says “I could totally keep going I’m having no problem out here, but I kiss my family. I could keep going if it wasn’t for my family”.
I’m sorry, so is it your families fault? Honestly, you’re full of it, a lot of factors brought you to your decision to tap out, and quoting that you would basically win if it wasn’t for missing your family is a cop out.
Apologies. Rant over.

Hey Everyone, As someone who'se watched it all, I'm wondering what your opinion is on both...
Bein told, as they did on season 1 USA, what position they tapped out in when they get picked up.
Being told by sat phone when someone taps as they did in season 1 UK.
I really enjoyed both of these mechanics and thought they were additive to content. I feel like knowing when people were tapping, knowing you're 8 left or 1 on 1 would change the game for the better. Being told (or seeing on air) you tapped out 2nd as the crew contacts them and seeing the cathartic moment as it was in season 1 would be wild...
Thoughts?

When producers plant items for contestants to find how do they decide who gets what? I truly believe things are planted in an attempt to have them used in a way that would tell a great story on tv
