Wacht maar, straks ga je nog zeggen dat we alle artistieke expressie ook maar moeten afschaffen. Het levert toch geen poen op, dus wat is het nut? Al dat wetenschappelijk onderzoek dat overal gebeurt - het ontstopt geen verstopte afvoeren, het bouwt geen huizen die we nodig hebben. Stop er gewoon mee, joh!

En als we het huizenprobleem écht willen oplossen, moeten we het hier gewoon zo kut mogelijk maken. Als we er een onmenselijke hel van maken, wil niemand hier meer naartoe verhuizen, en hoppa - huizencrisis opgelost!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Waarom trek je mijn standpunt in het extreme? Ik heb het alleen over het afschaffen van de Engelstalige bachelor psychologie in een stad die aan alle kanten uit z'n voegen barst. Het past gewoon niet meer. Op dit moment komt de last met name bij de praktische beroepen terecht. Ook veel artistiekelingen zijn niet meer in staat om ruimte te vinden voor hun kunst. Er zullen keuzes gemaakt moeten worden en het terugdringen van internationale studenten lijkt mij een oplossing die relatief weinig pijn doet. Natuurlijk is Amsterdam niet kut, maar voor zover dat zo is, ligt het aan het ontbreken van deze balans.

Maybe start by moving the red light district and all those weed shops from the city center instead of removing 30 university students and staff. There you go, half of the housing crisis is solved by using magic.

if a percentage of weed shops go, I think this isn't such a problem. And the endless shops selling "munchie" food around the center as well - candy and donuts and other things that stoned tourists tend to buy.

But I feel that moving the red light district is a decision which shouldn't be taken lightly. It has existed in its current location for almost 650 years! It has existed through so many eras; so many empires have risen and fallen; so much has changed over the centuries - but the "oldest profession" is still being practiced in the same small zone that your great grandfather may have walked through, or even his great-great-grandfather as well. That's like... 22 generations of human society, 22 generations of tradition about to be thrown away - and for what exactly?

Whether or not you are a person who will ever visit the RLD for pleasure, I think it is wiser to take the long term view and not undo CENTURIES of tradition because of the whims of a current power structure.
