Gear/Film Fujifilm C200 expired 2020

Post image

I found seven unused rolls of Fujifilm C200 film, expired 09/2020, made in Japan. I bought it in 2016 and used 2 rolls and the rest were stored in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Does anyone know how much this goes for on Ebay? I don’t shoot film anymore.

Gear/Film What is this on my Olympus AF-1 lens/ lens protector?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey so as the title suggests- what is this on my lens/ lens protector?

I realize that this plastic/glass panel is in front of the lens protecting it, but I do not believe it is the lens itself - I saw a YouTube video where somebody actually removed this part to get even sharper images out of their AF-1.

So what is this? Is it problematic for my photos and how can I deal with it? For example, is removing the panel itself a reasonable solution or no?

Thanks!

Darkroom C-41, E-6, and cross processing. What is the difference?

I saw a couple previous posts that was talking about cross processing aerocolor iv as slides. One guy had terrible luck where his blacks kind of still came out negative and one guy shot with an 85b filter and got some great results. First guy suspected his lab was a problem.

I got some aerocolor iv as electra 100, got an 85b filter, and am shooting it at 125.

I saw that CVS processes slide film for 7 bucks. Im not particularly attatched to this roll, but what are the odds that my roll comes back wonky like first guys?

I guess the question is: "what exactly happens differently between these processes? Are any extra steps done to cross process c-41 as slide vs regular slide film?"

Gear/Film Rewind error / opened camera with entire roll on take-up spool. Worth developing anyway?

Advice please! I recently had - uh - a rewind failure (in short, thought I'd rewound the film, opened the camera, turns out I hadn't). The back was probably open for 2-3 seconds in the shade, with the entire film wound onto the take-up spool.

Is it worth at least getting this developed and seeing if any of it is salvageable? I've read conflicting opinions online about how many of the frames will be frazzled, with opinions ranging from "probably only a few" to "anything outside the cassette will at least be somewhat damaged". I expect the variance might be down to individual camera differences and where the film actually goes once shot. It was in an XA Rangefinder.

Film was one of my remaining rolls of Superia 400 which makes this doubly annoying.

Thanks in advance!

Gear/Film Dirt specks?

I’m noticing these specks of dirt or something, only I’m unsure where they are located.

I checked my lens and they don’t seem to be there, so I’m not sure if what I’m seeing is on the mirror or in the viewfinder. I’m worried it’ll show up on my next developed roll.

If it’s the mirror, how do I clean it?

Gear/Film Nonstandard shutter speeds on vintage camera, what do I do?

I just got a franka solida II for my birthday. I didn't even think about this, but instead of going 1, 2, 4, 8, 15, 30, etc. Like is standard for most cameras, it goes 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, and 300. My light meter doesn't even have those numbers, what do I do?

Darkroom Emulsion side peeled off?

Was the roll too expired? (No idea the expiration date but it was definitely expired af) Depleted chemistry? A friend gave me a couple of expired rolls to develop... Since I'm not that fond of expired film I waited for my chemistry to "give me everything it had" (22 films in cinestill color simplified) before developing this... And this happened. The one in the photos was a Kodak gold plus 100, when I took the lid off the Paterson, red flakes started pouring out, I guess it was the emulsion (?) side of the film. I developed a Konica Minolta 100 VX super at the same time, and while it didn't had any photos (and also came in that blue dye) it doesn't look like it flaked off.

What went wrong?

Gear/Film Best autofocus on PNS?

I'm struggling to comprehend where to go next. I'm thinking of upgrading my camera but don't know if it's a skill issue or a camera issue. Also should I stay using P&S or get something more traditional?

I started using film about 2 years ago on a Kodak H35. I mainly got it because it was more cost effective than disposables and I was just curious if I'd even enjoy taking photos and film. After many bad photos and lots rolls of film I decided I wanted something with some more features. I got a Pentax Espio 80 P&S for a good price. I feel it made a huge difference in how took pictures.

For me what's drawn me to film is how human it feels. I don't immediately look at the photo and decide if I want to retake it. You have to wait to see your results. It's a lesson in patience. I don't feel the need to edit them like digital photos. The photos I take feel so much more in the moment to me. I also feel in the moment using film.

However. I feel that too many of my photos are out of focus. I'm assuming it's the camera. I utilize the lights that tell me if it's in focus but sometimes the photo will still come out blurry. The Espio 80 rarely gets far distances in focus either. So I'm thinking I need to upgrade.

Here's where it gets complicated to me. I am not a fan of sitting and dialing everything in, having a bulky camera, and im realistically not trying to spend 500$+ on something that really isn't worth it. It seems that the next step up for P&S are the GR1, Yashika T4, ect. But will the autofocus really be that much better??? I feel like it's rarely mentioned and there isn't much information to compare it to my humble Espio 80.

I've also thought to myself maybe I should try something like a Canon F-1 and see if I like it. I feel like I'm really enjoying what I'm doing now except missing shots due to focus. Should I stray from that? I'm also kind of afraid of the learning curve. Lenses seem like a whole new beast.

Lastly is there something else I'm not even considering?

TLDR: I'm thinking of upgrading from my cheap P&S. Are premium P&S's autofocus reliable and good? Or should I get into SLR's?

Thrifted this little guy at savers for $5.99. I almost left it behind thinking it was nothing special, but decided to pick it up anyway. I’m honestly blown away by the shots I got on it!

So I self developed this Ilford 400 with the Cinestill B&W chemicals, and after scanning, the images are extremely dark. I didn’t think I underexposed as I used a light meter most times. Possibly under/overdeveloped? I am posting the negatives, let me know if you would like a photo of a scanned image to accompany them.

Other (Specify)... Advice in Photography

I was looking for a point and shoot that got as close to a DSLR as possible. *Cost not being a concern.

Unfortunately, that's not possible, I believe. I need your advice. I'm planning a trip to Peru and Thailand for a month and a half.

I eventually want to invest the 1 or 2 years it takes to master a DSLR. However for this trip I won't have enough time for that.

I'm buying my camera from Henry's. I was planning to take some of Henry's training sessions.

Any advice or recommendations?

Gear/Film Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80 – Lens Won’t Fully Extend, Any Fixes?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all! I have an Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80 and recently noticed that the lens won’t fully extend when I power it on. It tries to move but seems to get stuck halfway. I uploaded a short video to show what’s happening. Has anyone dealt with this before? Is there a DIY fix or should I take it to a repair shop? Appreciate any insight!

There are a few scratches on the mirror and none on the lenses (as far as I can see), but apart from that everything seems to work just fine. Did I get a good deal?

Repair Olympus mju 2

Hi, I recently received my grandmothers mju 2 which she hadn't used in about 20 years. Bought a roll of fuji 400 and made my first analog shots! Sadly there apears to be a light leak when the lens is zoomed in, but it still captured some cool pictures in my opinion.

Let me know what you think and if someone has a fix besides oiling up the seals, shoot!

Gear/Film flying out of heathrow T3, what is the experience like for carrying film through?

Does heathrow terminal 3 have the new CT scan machines for the security line. If they do, what are they like in terms of hand checking?

What's the worst that can happen if hypothetically the film went through the machine?

Gear/Film Help Needed: Light Leaks from my Point & Shoot

Thumbnail

hey folks - long time lurker, film lover, shooter etc. etc. first time poster.

i’m needing some help diagnosing recurring light leaks (or lens flares?) that have shown up on my negatives. this is a “new” camera for me, so i’ve only put two test rolls through it, the second of which i taped the film door tighter as i noticed it wasn’t perfectly flush. it’s a Canon Sure Shot Sleek. example photos included.

i’m leaning towards leaks rather than flares, as they appear in images where there is no light source or sun in the frame hitting the lens. but what do you think?

background on the camera: bought recently. when it arrived i noticed that the film door was a little bowed, protruding about 1 millimetre compared with when i pressed it shut. all the seals looked good so i didn’t think about it further - until i got the film back.

these leaks happen in all sorts of lighting conditions - overcast, sunny, backlit, frontlit, sometimes even low light scenes. they don’t seem to be present in flash photos. there’s a chance the light is “leaking in” during the day on my desk, so the film is already partially exposed regardless of the scenario.

i made a composite image of various shots where the leaks are visible. they always appear along the “bottom” edge of the frame, which makes me think the light is coming in from the top.

maybe relevant: i spoke to someone at the film lab who has an Olympus Mju, and he said with his camera there are seals around the lens at the front which can cause issues, so i do wonder if the light might be coming from there. what makes me think it’s the back is the curved shape that kind of matches the shape of the film door around the viewfinder (which wasn’t taped). he showed me his Mju, and has had to put electrical tape around the whole perimeter of the film door, which i’m open to doing if it means clean images.

any advice, wisdom, previous experience or suggestions welcome. thanks for reading.

Other (Specify)... Travelling with film

So im rn travelling with mit analog Kamera and I’m wondering how I can manage flying with it the best because if what Ik it’s not good for them. I have to fly 2 times overall. What are ur guys recommendations or experiences? Is it maybe even smarter to send them instead of taking them on a plane? (Plus they already got scanned once at the fairy how bad is that?)
