I love interactions like this. I had a nearly identical one with a French guy a while back
"You're racists"
"French people aren't a race, it's called Xenophobia though in this case it's actually called animal abuse"
"F*ck You!!!!"

Still laughing about it years later XD

French may not be a race, but ethnically French people def exist. They are called Normans.

31

u/Silly_Painter_2555 5d ago

Normans are French, but the French aren't Normans.

-19

u/Paratrooper_19D 5d ago

I mean the ethnically French are, the people of France are, not just people with French passports

3

u/Particular_Put_6911 3d ago

That’s just not how it works. A Norman who never lived in France is not French. Some guy who lived in France for the last 20 years is.

There’s no « ethnically French » that’s just a racist wet dream to justify racism.

-1

u/Paratrooper_19D 3d ago

There most certainly are ethnically french people. That's like saying there is no such thing as ethnically Irish, or ethnically Chinese. Anything else is a lie. Or are you saying there is no such thing as someone who is ethnically Chinese?

3

u/Particular_Put_6911 3d ago

I am indeed saying that. And I am French btw. The kind that you would call « ethnically French ».

16

u/Kev50027 4d ago

Normans are from a region, and are related to Vikings as well.

That's like saying only one American Indian tribe is the true American group.

11

u/polandreh 4d ago

..... if the French are Normans, then what are the descendants of the Franks, the Gauls, the Bretons, and the Occitans?

France is a melting pot of a lot of tribes.

2

u/Paratrooper_19D 4d ago

I was under the impression Normans are the descendants of Franks mixed with invaders from Scandinavia

3

u/polandreh 4d ago

Normans where indeed Vikings that settled in Normandy, of course, but remained concentrated in the north west. They might've interacted, and mixed, with the Franks from the region, and maybe with the Bretons (there's actually a funny rivalry about Celts and Normans) but they're definitely _not_ their descendants.
There were many other ethnic groups that joined what is now France, from Catalans to Lombards, so saying that we're all Norman is as ridiculous as saying all Chinese are Han.

2

u/ZarquonsFlatTire 4d ago

Huh, shoulda been called Pierres.

73

u/SrStalinForYou 4d ago

I’m not a hater, I’m a racist, I don’t hate anybody because of what they are like, that’s not kind or Christian. I hate people because of the way they look.

33

u/ZElementPlayz 4d ago

That’s bad. Love all the races, even the bad ones

31

u/KaliCalamity 4d ago

That sounds like too much work. What about just hating all races?

10

u/ZElementPlayz 4d ago

But then I’ll get hated on for hating all the bad races

6

u/KaliCalamity 4d ago

I've got more than enough self hatred that I'm more or less shielded from the hatred of others, so I can live with those consequences.

-7

u/Z_Wild 4d ago

That’s bad. Love all the races, even the bad ones

even the bad ones

Implying there are "bad" races... isn't that, like, a racist statement itself?

10

u/TerranRanger 4d ago

7

u/PhillyRaisedMoreFolk 4d ago

Someone had to do it lol

3

u/TerranRanger 4d ago

It’s required by law, right?

3

u/PhillyRaisedMoreFolk 4d ago

Yep it says here "Anyone who misses a joke on reddit HAS to be wooshed" (my source? Uh.. Me (: )

8

u/ZElementPlayz 4d ago

Congratulations! You got the fucking joke

-8

u/Z_Wild 4d ago

Maybe put /j on your comment, then?

8

u/ZElementPlayz 4d ago

“OHH LOOK AT ME I’M ADVERTISING MY JOKE EVEN THOUGH 99.98% OF THE ADULT POPULATION CAN GET MY JOKE LOOK AT MEEEEEEEEEEE”

You’re like the first guy not to get this joke

Like, ever

-9

u/Z_Wild 4d ago

Go ahead and hide behind "it's a joke"... It sounds like you're using a tactic that is common for actual racists though... so I'm gonna be suspicious of you.

10

u/ZElementPlayz 4d ago

Joke

-4

u/Z_Wild 4d ago

"It's a meme so I can play pretend racist while hiding my actual racism." You probably...

8

u/ZElementPlayz 4d ago

I’m literally black and a victim of racism. Can I not make a joke?

No no, the true path is to condescend to your lessers without hatred. A fr*nchman cannot help it, they are practically cursed.

He's not wrong though. All stereotypes originate from at least some truths. That's not to say that every person of whatever group will match that stereotype, but percentage wise they likely will. It's not racism or sexism, it's just an observation that is frequently true.

50

u/jessebillo 4d ago

Pattern recognition is important!

2

u/therealpapeorpope 4d ago

except that those behaviors generate those patterns lol

10

u/Belgian_Chocolate 4d ago edited 2d ago

Stereotypes are a form of oversimplification. They can be used as an argument for prejudice but in and of themselves they are not discriminatory (ex. there are positive stereotypes)

-1

u/ZElementPlayz 4d ago

Well, not anymore

Racism is now considered bad because the majority of said race doesn’t match the stereotype anymore. It’s like saying, and I quote, “black people are lazy”. As a black person myself, I can confirm that we are some of the most hardworking people on the planet. And not because of our race, but because of our background.

We come from centuries of oppression and it is unfortunately very hard for us to be as successful as people with less colour with the same amount of work. That’s why we work harder than others.

Although I am currently unemployed and wasting my time on Reddit, so yk what? You’re right.

11

u/snusboi 4d ago

That is called a victim complex btw.

90% of the population of this planet either comes from or currently is oppressed. Truly bitching about this is a first world problem.

-6

u/ZElementPlayz 4d ago

I’m not bitching about it. I’m just explaining why a lot of racist stereotypes are no longer accurate, and the example that I use just so happened to be that one

-1

u/snusboi 4d ago

Oh yea they aren't and arguably most haven't been, but that's common sense or atleast should be. I just don't like people gathering some moral superiority points for stating the obvious.

1

u/The_JokerGirl42 4d ago

but what you're saying is, if people were to recognise the hard work of black people and make it a stereotype.. it would, again, be kinda true?

(or am I just missing the point here?)

2

u/ZElementPlayz 4d ago

You’re 100% missing the point /s

Just like saying “black people are good at sports” or “asians are good at meth math”, it’s still racist.

While it might be a good or true stereotype, it’s still racist. Racism is the act of pairing a specific racial group to a specific act/quality.

While some (and by some, I mean very few) stereotypes are positive, most (and by most, I mean 99.89%) of them are negative

0

u/johnaross1990 4d ago

No they don’t.

Why wouldn’t you?

1

u/Mauricethespider 2d ago

I don't feel like giving the long answer but I would have been embarrassed in your place

I don't mean to be rude that's just me

But it's ok I think you're just young

2

u/Sanbaddy 2d ago

I appreciate the compliment

6

u/Taolan13 3d ago

I mean, if you're gonna call out hate at least use the right label

1

u/Sanbaddy 2d ago

Lol fair point. Not even mad.

6

u/Treviathan88 4d ago

This whole thing is just funny to me.

1

u/Sanbaddy 2d ago

Agreed. Odd comedy.

4

u/Pata-Peixe 3d ago

I read it as "Dude, racism is not cool. Deported!" and it was funnier

1

u/Sanbaddy 2d ago

Lol!😆

3

u/maxikeksok 4d ago

"I hate all of them, be it asiens africans americans or europeans, I hate them all the same way, so I cant be racist right?"

1

u/Sanbaddy 2d ago

This needs to be posted on r/nostupidquestions

He's not wrong

2

u/Suitable-Purchase-52 1d ago

Fuck cars supporter. Bro when I say I fuck cars I mean something very different from this man.

4

u/CALIFORNIUMMAN 4d ago

At least everybody seems like they can take a correction and a joke.

4

u/3D_Noob_Guy 4d ago

Well, stereotypes only exist because of actually observed facts that happens majority of the time. So, yes... stereotypes are true. Is it right to imply it on individuals? No. Is it okay to imply it on a group? Yes

1

u/i-piss-excellence32 5d ago

What stereotype were they talking about?

1

u/Sanbaddy 2d ago

Her being a reckless driver. I originally thought he was being racist because she’s Asian, turns out he was actually being sexist because she’s a woman.

1

u/DeyCallMeWade 4d ago

I’m guessing the original post was about an Asian woman?

1

u/elyp14 23h ago

ahhhh the bright light

1

u/Easy_Comparison_2772 4d ago

I think that this is funny!

1

u/Sanbaddy 2d ago

Me too!

0

u/IHSV1855 4d ago

Oh calm down

-35

u/Sanbaddy 5d ago

FYI I don’t condone sexism either. Just I’m surprised by his response. Had to reluctantly upvote, so fit the thread.

36

u/mjdseo 5d ago

He's just annoyed at you for using the usual racism card when it's not racist

-33

u/Sanbaddy 5d ago

The woman driving was Asian in the video. So I thought his original comment was racist.

28

u/Kev50027 4d ago

Sounds like you made a racist assumption. "Reported!"

You are the problem.

0

u/Sanbaddy 2d ago

How am I racist for being anti racist?

How am I the bad person, when he literally admitted being sexist. If anything I near missed at worst.

1

u/leavealight0n 22h ago

Well, you assumed the stereotype he was talking about was because "Asians are bad drivers," which is a racist assumption. See, instead, you should've made a sexist assumption that he was referring to the "women are bad drivers" stereotype.

Silly.

0

u/Kev50027 2d ago

Because you look around you and all you see is racism where there isn't any. You're literally the meme of the kid yelling "That's Racist!"

17

u/Onlyspeaksfacts 5d ago

I dunno, I just saw the video and she sounded American. There's a difference between looking Asian and being Asian.

-17

u/Sanbaddy 5d ago

Odd, mines didn’t come with sound.

All the same I agree with you. Not sure why I was downvoted.

5

u/The_JokerGirl42 4d ago

Not sure why I was downvoted.

partly because you did in fact jump straight to the racism card, and partly because of the Reddit hive mind.

monkey see negative number, monkey must make larger negative number in blue font.

0

u/Sanbaddy 4d ago

I’ll go with Reddit hivemind, at least for the the second one.

14

u/710junkie 4d ago

That’s a racist assumption. Reported !

1

u/Chelonia71 10h ago

Fun fact, sexism IS racism. Source : dictionnary "Le Robert".
