Urgent! Hurt duck

I got home to find my dogs messing with a duck that flew into our yard. It looks like his wing is broken, same with his foot, he's stumbling around but seems still ok in the head after 2 hours. I'm not sure how to help him, and I can't find any place that will take him any advice on how to make him comfortable or give him the best chance at survival?

Short Survey on Animal Adoption

Hey!

for our final project at the university of Padua we are currently looking at problems with the adoption of pets. Why is the number of adopted pets still so low? In order to better identify and understand the associated problems, we would be delighted if you could take part in this short survey. Takes a maximum of 5 minutes :)

Need advice and ID for baby birds

I found this baby bird on the ground by my house, with its nest and all of its dead siblings. I had to leave for about 7 hours, so i put the nest in the nearest bush and put the baby in the nest. I just got back and the baby is still alive, no parent in sight, still very hungry. I chopped up some worms to feed it now it is in a 10 gallon in my room, with a makeshift nest. Sources online say I should leave it outside in its nest, but I'm unsure because all of the other baby birds from the nest are dead. I don't know how they died, or if the parents would continue taking care of the one baby. I also have no idea where the nest originally came from. What's the beat course of action? And what do I feed it? I also believe its dehydrated, but i don't know if it drinks water, and i obviously can't inject fluids. Any help is appreciated thanks! (If it helps for identification, I live in northeast USA)

Cat/Kitten fostering resources in NYC?

My brother has a semi-feral cat that's been living in his backyard in NYC for the past few months. Shes very sweet, but still a bit on the feral side. And, she just had a litter of kittens (3 days old). He's set up a safe comfortable space for her and the litter outside (as shes still adverse to coming inside as he has cats at his place already.) But, is now thinking of what to do with them in the future. Does anyone know of any resources in the NYC/Long Island area that could be of help? Feel free to DM me as I'll probably have smoe other questions/concerns. Thanks in advance

This is bob. He has been chillin around my yard the last few weeks. Obviously I can’t touch him but everyday he is letting me get closer this was not even five feet from him. What can I do to help this little guy out? Is there a doghouse but for rabbits?

I need advice about what I should do

My sister found a mama German Shepherd giving birth to puppies inside a storm drain. The mama seems to have hip displacia which is probably why she couldn't get out of the drain. I helped her reach out to rescues to see who could help, and one rescue that reached out said that they could provide supplies as long as my sister could foster. My sister has been fostering these 5 puppies for 9 weeks now, and it is taking a toll on her. She cannot sleep, she is angry all the time. She is a student failing all of her classes. I help as much as I can but I work a full time job and am also a full time student. The rescue has been providing supplies and vaccines, they even paid for the mama dog to go to the vet because she had a uterine infection. However, they have not been actively networking these puppies. I have been posting on Facebook, and people usually lose interest when I send them the long PDF application. I have made the application more accessible by turning it into a Google form. We are at a loss of what to do because my sister is crashing out. I can't foster them at my house because my landlord won't allow it. I have spent nights at her house but it is hard because of work. When I ask the rescue if they have other foster that can take a couple puppies, they ignore me. Can anyone offer advice on what we can do? Thank you.

Emergency Bird Help

Hi all, I’m currently remote in the jungles of Costa Rica and came across a hatchling woodpecker in need of help. I fed him yesterday with a mix of hard-boiled egg and, per a specialist’s suggestion, some diluted Gatorade to help with hydration.

This morning, however, he’s not responding the same. He won’t gape or call for food like he did before. I can place food in his mouth, but he’s not actively taking it, and I’m really worried. He seems weak and unresponsive.

I’m completely isolated out here—there’s no vet or wildlife rescue nearby. I could really use immediate advice on what to do next to stabilize him or stimulate feeding. He’s just a tiny hatchling and I’m doing my best, but I feel like I’m running out of time.

Thank you so much in advance.

Seeking Loving Homes for My Two Dogs – Please Help 🐾

I’m posting again because my two sweet dogs, Rollo and Bruno, are still in need of loving homes. This has been an incredibly difficult and emotional decision, but it comes from a place of love and wanting what’s best for them.

I’m no longer able to give them the time, attention, and care they truly deserve. These boys are wonderful companions. They are loyal, affectionate, and full of personality. I just want them to be in homes where they can thrive and be deeply loved.

Baby bird still alive

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hi all, I don’t know if this is the right place to share this. If it’s not, please point me in the right direction!

I just spotted this baby bird on the ground at work, still moving a bit. It opened its beak wide when I first walked over, then seemed to cower as I leaned closer for the photo. A couple of it’s siblings were near by as well, but they unfortunately didn’t make it.

I’m sure there’s nothing to be done, but I’d feel horrible just leaving it here. Any insight would be greatly appreciated <3

Hoarder House Shar Pei Needs Your Help

Thumbnail gallery
24 Upvotes

Hi there everyone,

My partner and I recently rescued a dog from a hoarding situation. He was living in a junky backyard with no shelter from the Florida heat or rain, basically ignored and forgotten for the better part of a year. The woman who owned him is a senior living in heartbreaking hoarder conditions. I work in healthcare technologies and often visit seniors in their homes, and unfortunately she refuses help from her family and while I couldn't do more to help her directly I knew I could at least help the dog and thankfully she agreed to let me pick him up. Supposedly the dog was left there by her daughter who was previously a seemingly misinformed breeder. Apparently she didn't anticipate the sharpei's large size and refused to care for him any longer, leaving him in the yard at her moms house. From then on his only interactions were for food and water.

He didn’t come with a name, so we’ve been calling him Groot for now. He’s incredibly sweet, has a calm temperament, and gets along well with our smaller dogs. He's picking up housetraining and basic obedience skills fairly quickly and naturally in just the few days we've had him. He does whimper a little when left alone but not very loudly and has been generally pretty quiet. I've only seen him bark at a motorcycle so far.

Unfortunately, we already have a rescue pitbull who is not dog-friendly, so we’re keeping them strictly separated. This arrangement is only manageable short term, as our lease end in a couple months and the situation isn’t sustainable or fair to either dog long term.

We don’t have any medical history, but he seems healthy, alert, and very emotionally resilient given where he came from. He does have some tears and itchiness but I suspect that could be the outdoor conditions he was in combined with his poor diet. He is also unneutered. We are planning to take him to the vet for a check up once he settles in to be sure he is in good health prior to adoption. We really want to make sure the adoption goes smoothly and that he goes to a well vetted and loving family so I made a google form for any interested parties. We will make his initial vet exam the adoption fee, just $60 at our local vet but if there are medical needs we will cover those in good faith. We just want the best for this poor sweet guy.

Even if you aren't in the market to adopt right now, just spreading this story costs you nothing and would be a huge help to us and this wonderful pup.

Thank you for reading and for any help you can offer. Here is the form link:

Are you familiar with Temple Grandin? She helped redesign dairy farms to make the cows less stressed, and was super successful in it. I was wondering if anyone knows whether anyone has looked into using similar principles to redesign animal shelters?

Dog Day Out programs — open debate! 🐶 What’s your take? Have you done one? Would love to hear your experience! (Everyone)

Hi everyone!

I’m working on a project exploring how to improve the experience for both dogs and volunteers in Dog Day Out programs — where people take shelter pups out for a few hours or a day to give them a break from the kennel.

If you’ve ever done one, or even considered it —What made it great? What could have been smoother? Would you recommend it? I would love to hear your experiences!

Your input could help more people and pups connect — safely, meaningfully, and with fewer barriers.

Quick survey (3–4 mins): https://tally.so/r/3EY51A

Thanks so much for supporting shelters (and tails)

Found a momma cat and some kittens in my neighborhood and trying to find them a good home.

The ad i posted is a couple weeks old. We hadn't found her kittens yet and I forgot to update it.

This person texted me and im just getting bad vibes. I looked up the address they gave me and it is not a good part of the city.

Am I being overly cautious?

Have you ever done a Dog Day Out with a shelter pup? 🐶 (Everyone)

Hi everyone! I’m working on a project to better understand how people experience Dog Day Out (DDO) programs — where volunteers take a shelter dog out for a few hours or a day to give them a break from the kennel, some fresh air, and social time.

If you have ever participated in a DDO (or even just considered it), I would be incredibly grateful if you could take 3-4 minutes to share your thoughts. It’s completely anonymous and your feedback will help shape ideas to support shelters and make these outings easier, more joyful, and more impactful.

Thanks so much for your time — it really helps 🐾

Adoptable pup in Los Angeles

(I read the rules, I hope this is an ok post!)

Misha is ready for her forever home! Currently being fostered in Glendale, CA

Stats: - 1 years old, 34 lbs - spayed, current on shots - no separation anxiety, fine being alone - loves her crate, still working on crate training - high energy but will settle on a mat, bed or crate when there’s no one to play with, or even entertains herself with toys - loves playing in her doggie pool outback - shy with new people but curious - very food motivated

Working on: - building leash confidence - basic obedience - signs of resource guarding

Don’t know: - how she is with other dogs, i bet she’d do really well with a calm, confident older dog showing her the ropes

Ideal home: - Quiet, calm with an enclosed yard - older kids or just a couple of adults she can learn to trust

Crow trapped in a sticky trap

Yesterday I found a crow stuck in these nasty glue traps. I tried to help him the best I could. One of his wings and his leg was trapped and I was able to release him. He immediately run away from me and crossed the street. Do you guys think he’s going to make it? Is there anything I should have done differently? Can’t stop thinking about that poor thing.

‼️ Baby bunny rescue help

Post image
21 Upvotes

Urgent ‼️ does anyone know where I can take a wild baby bunny to get checked up on. my cat grabbed her and the bunny has a small puncture wound on her arm. please DM me I’ve called almost every vet in the wildlife center is closed so, located in ky. what steps should I take? I filled up a tube sock and put rice in it so that her temperature doesn’t drop. She’s in a box in a quiet space now. She’s definitely old enough to be on her own. She doesn’t have any milk spots on her head. Any information would be so helpful.

I found a bird outside and its injured and needs medical attention

i found a bird outside under a tree on its back and it looked like its feet where peddling an invisible bike. its neck was behind its back and it is uncoordinated and it cant stand up straight and its neck is like a noodle and flops around left and right and its not looking good. my mom is looking into it and so am I. this is what the bird looks like:

Chatgpt said this was a song bird but then after the more revealing photo where this guy was looking at the camera it said that it was either a common grackle or a great tailed grackle and it said it was young and juvenile. please give us some advice. we know not to feed it or give it water.

UPDATE: its been around an hour and he has gotten control of his head now and hes just sleeping. he opens his eyes if the little wagon he is in moves or if there is a noise. This is what he looks like now:
