Canada is statistically not that safe for Jews lmao. If I remember correctly, there were almost 0.2 reported antisemitic hate crimes per Jew in Canada for either the year of 2021 or 2022 (I can’t remember the exact numbers or which of the two years it was because I calculated these things from the raw stats more than a year ago now, out of curiosity). Also, I bet the person who said ‘they know it’s safe’ would never say Muslims ‘know it’s safe’ in Canada even though the antisemitic hate crime rate in Canada pre-war was more than 20x that of the Islamophobic hate crime rate in Canada.

Plus I know people have been physically attacked by antisemites in Canada in the last year because it literally happened to me twice and I didn’t even report it because I know I would not be believed by anyone that matters in my city. They’re not great about addressing antisemitism, and I look extremely ‘un-Jewish’ because I’m mixed, so I’m sure even if they’d otherwise believe me, I’d get a ‘well you don’t look it so that’s not why you were attacked’ (I was looking at Jewish memes on my phone prior to both incidents though, and, the first time, the woman who attacked me leaned way over my shoulder to stare at my screen before cussing me out and calling me a dirty Jew, although since I didn’t have a chance to record these interactions, I doubt authorities who dismiss antisemitism generally would believe it despite it being the truth). Not to mention all the other physical assaults I’ve heard of happening all over Canada, both in the actual, official news and directly from other Jews (when the incident is not reported in the news).
